Kindergarten students in Mrs. Conroy and Mrs. DeJesús's class have been making the most of our Outdoor Classroom! This week, students explored a new farm play set, built fairy houses, made music and danced, and went on nature walks!🧚‍♀️🎶

From imaginative play to exploring the natural world, our LC Outdoor Classroom gives students so many opportunities to be creative, curious, and connected to their surroundings. Just another reminder that learning doesn’t always happen inside four walls!🌳

Walk through our elementary hallways and you’ll see each class and grade level sharing what it means to be part of a school-family, along with their hopes and dreams for this school year and for their futures. 💭💛

This is an LC tradition that helps students see the connection between what they are doing today and where they hope to go tomorrow. It’s also a way for each class to build a shared identity, celebrate what makes them unique, and create a sense of unity and belonging.🤗

Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight🌺

Our students are becoming researchers as they celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Each 5th grade student in Ms. Genesis’ class randomly selected one of 21 Spanish-speaking countries to explore, learning more about its culture, history, traditions, geography, and people.

All 21 countries came together in a colorful hallway display celebrating the many cultures, stories, and traditions that make up the Spanish-speaking world.🌎

A great way to learn from one another and see just how much there is to celebrate during Hispanic Heritage Month! 💛

Hispanic Heritage Month Highlight🌺

Our 3rd grade students are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by reading the bilingual book "Waiting for the Biblioburro" in class. Inspired by a true story from Colombia, the book follows a traveling librarian who brings books to children in rural communities on the backs of two burros.🫏📚

Hispanic Heritage Month is especially meaningful at The LC, where Latino cultures, languages, and traditions are an important part of our school community. Throughout the month, we’re excited to highlight the ways our students are learning about and celebrating Hispanic and Latino stories, history, and culture in their classrooms.💙

Our kindergarten students have been talking about what it means to be kind! Students read "KINDergarten" and "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" to identify all the different ways they can show kindness to others.💓

This week, they filled their classroom kindness bucket!⭐ Each star and heart represents a kind act by one of our students. Keep up the super work!

🏠Try this at home: Start a family kindness bucket! Each time someone does something kind like helping with a chore, sharing, or giving a compliment, add a heart, star, or little note to your bucket. See how quickly you can fill it together!🥰

Today is International Day of Sign Languages, a day that celebrates sign languages and their role in creating more inclusive and accessible communities.🤟

To honor the day, 5th grade students in Ms. Genesis' class spent their morning learning and practicing 25 basic words and phrases in sign language!

Now it’s your turn! 👋 Check out the graphic and try a few signs for yourself. How many can you learn today?☝️
