Yesterday in Art, our learners explored Vincent van Gogh and created their own Starry Night-inspired paintings. 💙💛

They looked at his use of color, movement, bold brushstrokes, and nighttime scenes, then used those ideas as inspiration for their own work.

And this is my favorite part: none of them look exactly the same.

Same artist. Same inspiration. Same general materials. Completely different interpretations.

That is what art should feel like.

No perfect copy required. No “wrong” way to make it yours. Just creativity, experimentation, and a table full of learners willing to try something new.

Fridays at Attuned look a little different. 💛

Today our learners traded the classroom for the arena and spent the morning horseback riding. For some, getting on the horse was the big win. For others, it was sitting taller, trusting the instructor, trying something unfamiliar, or staying with it even when they felt nervous.

Experiences like this give our kids a chance to practice confidence, body awareness, communication, regulation, and trust in a completely different environment.

And sometimes the best learning really does happen outside the classroom. 🐴✨

Today our littles stamped their passports and made a stop in Japan 🇯🇵✨

They explored the Japanese flag, familiar characters like Totoro and Doraemon, and of course we had to include a little taste test. Seaweed, Pocky, mochi… some were a hit and some got a VERY quick “no thank you” 😂

We even slowed down for a simple tea experience, practicing pouring, waiting, trying something new, and learning through all of our senses.

Around the World at Attuned is never just about finding a country on a map. We want them to see it, taste it, touch it, talk about it, and make connections they’ll actually remember. 🌏💛

Today our Forest & Meadow scientists stepped into the lab for another hands-on forensic investigation! 🧪🔬

This time, they explored presumptive blood testing—learning how investigators can test an unknown stain and use chemical reactions as part of the evidence-gathering process. They suited up, followed lab procedures, recorded observations, and got plenty of practice handling materials like real forensic scientists.

One of my favorite parts of this unit has been watching them realize that science isn’t just something you read about in a textbook. It’s something you can touch, question, test, observe, and figure out.

And judging by those faces… I think the lab coats and scientist IDs may have made it just a little more official. 😂

Passport stamped: Italy 🇮🇹

Today our Garden travelers made their next stop around the world in Italy! We explored the Italian flag, learned a little about the country and its culture, stepped into the world of art with our own Mona Lisa creations, and of course… made pizza. 🍕

Learning looks a little different at Attuned. Sometimes it looks like passports, paintbrushes, new foods, messy hands, conversations, and kids experiencing what they’re learning instead of only reading about it.

Next stop… ✈️🌍

Today our Forest & Meadow scientists stepped into the role of forensic investigators for a hair analysis lab!

Students suited up, examined hair samples with magnifying tools and our digital microscope, compared characteristics, recorded observations, and worked through their evidence sheets just like real investigators. 🥼🔎

This unit has been all about showing them that science is something you do — not just something you read about. They’re learning to observe carefully, compare evidence, document what they notice, ask questions, and use those details to support a conclusion.

And yes… they take the lab coats and scientist badges VERY seriously. 😂

We’re getting closer and closer to our final crime scene escape room, and every lab is giving them another skill they’ll need to solve the case. 👀🕵🏽‍♀️🧪

Today our littles took a trip to Egypt! 🇪🇬

We explored the Egyptian flag, talked about its colors and symbols, and even designed our own versions. Then learning got extra hands-on with a little mummy fun — because wrapping your friends like mummies is obviously serious academic work. 😂

From fine-motor practice and creativity to culture, vocabulary, sensory exploration, teamwork, and a whole lot of laughter, our Around the World learning continues to be one of our favorite ways to learn.

At Attuned, learning doesn’t always look like sitting at a desk — sometimes it looks like markers, messy hands, snacks, movement, and turning your classmates into mummies. 🥹😂

Next stop… somewhere new! 🌍✈️

✈️🌎 Passport Stamped: Mexico! 🇲🇽

Today our K–2 travelers checked in at The Attuned International Airport, grabbed their passports and luggage, and headed to Mexico!

Throughout the day, learning was woven into the journey through name recognition, high-frequency words, environmental print, number recognition, fine-motor work, art, and more. Their travel experience also connected with Spanish class, giving students another way to hear, see, and use language in context.

And because we believe learning should involve the whole child, our travelers explored their senses too by helping make and taste a snack popular in Mexico. 👃🏽👀🤲🏽👅

Tomorrow, their passports are ready again…
