We are grateful to welcome Prana Rising to Akasha 🛸🩵

Prana Rising is a handpan artist, sound practitioner, educator, and founder of the Sound Artist Handpan & Creative Music School New York; a pioneering center for holistic percussion and creative music education. Holding dual degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from the Eastman School of Music, Prana has dedicated over a decade to helping individuals unlock their authentic creative voices ✨

Driven by the philosophy that everyone is born with an innate musical gift, Prana guides people into their intuitive creativity through tailored workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and comprehensive sound practitioner training.

At Akasha, Prana’s sessions will explore the handpan as a powerful catalyst for wellness and inclusive music-making. Grounded in both the percussive and holistic arts, this immersive experience will highlight the instrument’s unique capacity to foster calm, focus, and emotional grounding, proving that true musical engagement is accessible to all.

🛸 A new home for Yishama in New York 🛸

More than half of 2026 has passed, and we're reaching another beautiful milestone: welcoming Sound Artist Handpan & Creative Music School as our newest retail partner in NY. ✨ 🌿 Sound Artist

This partnership isn't just about location, but about a shared mission. Sound Artist was founded on the belief that everyone is inherently musical. What started as one person's love for the handpan has become a full creative space, a place for learning, performing, discovering instruments, and connecting with a community that shares the same passion we do. 🙏

Years ago, founder came across Kabeção's "Astronaut" performance on the Great Wall of China, played on a low F2 Pygmy that pushed every boundary of what a handpan could sound and feel like at the time. That moment of discovery stayed with Prana, and over time grew into something much bigger. 🎶

In their words:

"Today, we are honoured to partner with Yishama. Their craftsmanship, sound quality, and dedication to the handpan make them a natural alignment with our school’s vision, and we’re excited to share these remarkable instruments with our community."

Now our instruments have a home to be tried, played, and explored in person on Long Island. Same craftsmanship, same soul, just a little closer for our friends in NY 🤍

To the musicians and facilitators who made this entire weekend so incredibly special, thank you!

We’re celebrating our fourth consecutive Alive with Music at Sound Artist and are excited to share the date of our next event soon.

We are beyond grateful for what has been an absolutely extraordinary weekend of handpan, community and connection!

Thank you to everyone who came and participated! Our facilitators, students and friends made this weekend truly unforgettable.

Every part of the weekend had its own special meaning and magic. More than anything it affirmed how special it is to create opportunities like this for us to connect and express.

It seems like only the beginning, but what an incredible start!
