Last weekend The NDRQHA gave out the year end awards for 2025 racing year I've always wanted Broodmare of the year and that was Jenna's Easy Cash and Avas Sparkle won the Reserve Champion Aged Horse award. Thanks to the NDQHRA for the Montana Silversmith Trophy Buckles.

She won the biggest check of her career at the Calgary Stampede. On her late father's birthday. Some things are bigger than rodeo.

Born and raised in Louisiana, Cheyanne Guillory grew up the daughter of Carl Guillory — a roper who put a rope in her hands before she was old enough to understand what she was learning. A second generation roper who learned everything from the man she loved most. Then in July 2020 her father suffered a heart attack and passed away. The road got longer and quieter after that. But she kept roping.

She joined the WPRA breakaway standings and spent years building something patient and steady. In 2020 she ranked 96th in the world with just $2,326 in earnings. Most people would have questioned whether the dream was worth chasing. Cheyanne McCartney kept throwing loops.

She won Fort Worth. She won the American Royal in Kansas City. She won the Black Hills Roundup. She started placing at the National Finals Breakaway Roping — then in 2023 at her third NFBR she roped nine calves in 32.2 seconds and won the average title — the most impressive single performance of her career to that point.

Then came 2026. She bought a twelve year old mare named Aladdins Approach — known in her barn simply as Lexus — from a roper in New York in January and put her straight to work on the rodeo road. No extended practice period. No honeymoon phase. Just two competitive athletes figuring each other out one rodeo at a time. Lexus molded into everything McCartney needed her to be — and kept winning at every stop along the way.
Then came the Calgary Stampede in July 2026. The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. The second time in Calgary Stampede history that a women's breakaway roping title had ever been awarded. A $68,566 check. Five runs on Lexus. Dominance from the first swing to the last. She jumped from 28th to number one in the WPRA world standings overnight.

And it happened on her late father Carl's birthday.

She didn't plan it. She didn't orchestrate it. She just showed up and roped the way he taught her — and let the calendar do something extraordinary. She said it felt incredible and didn't feel real yet. Then she came back just days later and won Cheyenne Frontier Days — the Daddy of 'Em All — to pad her world lead even further.

A Louisiana cowgirl who learned to rope from her daddy. A mare bought in New York in January. The number one ranking in the world in July. A birthday the heavens must have had a hand in.

FARGO, ND—JULY 11, 2026—Hiclass Famous One rallied along the inside to spring a 15.40-1 upset in Saturday's $16,000 NDQHRA Streakin Zoomer Stakes at North Dakota Horse Park, gamely holding off a late charge from stablemate Andres Jode to score by one-half length in the 350-yard feature for 3-year-olds and older.

The 3-year-old bay filly covered the distance in 18.106 seconds, earning a 90 speed index over a fast racing surface. Trained by Perry Cavanaugh for owner Steve Leonard, Hiclass Famous One was ridden by Carlos Banda and earned $5,850 for the victory.

Bred in Louisiana by Harold M. Jeanotte, she is by Famous Painted One out of Hiclass Little Lily, by Hiclass La Jolla. Breaking alertly from post two, she tracked the early leader before taking command approaching the wire and proved game to the finish.

This was the second win in eight starts for Hiclass Famous One, and the winner's purse boosted her bankroll to $21,934.

Steve Leonard also owned runner-up Andres Jode, who closed stoutly between rivals but fell one-half length short at the finish. The 4-year-old sorrel gelding by Kiss Me Jody out of Andres Okey Dokey, by Dashing Jess Perry, was bred in North Dakota by Rodney J. Smith and is also conditioned by Cavanaugh. Scott Bethke was aboard the runner-up, who earned $2,600 after finishing a head in front of third-place finisher Avas Sparkle. She is a four-time winner with earnings of $18,284.

Another head back in third was Avas Sparkle, a 5-year-old chestnut mare owned by her breeder, John Bubel, and trained by Jamie Herman. Ridden by Dallin Herman, the daughter of Dashing Jess Perry out of Jennas Easy Cash, by Such Easy Cash, briefly held the lead before battling on willingly to collect $1,300.

Completing the order of finish were Streak N Quartz, Lil Rider, Im Rip, Vf My Favorite Disco, Kcross Captain, Bodies Blow Out, and Pyc Fury Jm.
