🏛️ Work Has Begun at Perseverance Lodge No. 92!

We’re pleased to announce that work has officially begun on the restoration of the historic columns at Perseverance Lodge No. 92 in Louisiana, Missouri.

These columns have stood at the entrance of our Masonic Temple for generations, and preserving them is an important part of maintaining both our building and the history it represents.

There is plenty of work ahead, but we’re excited to see this restoration project underway. We’ll share more photos as the work progresses.

THEN & NOW: Masonic Temple, Louisiana, Missouri

(1910 & 2024)

In 1910, this impressive new Masonic Temple stood at 621 Georgia Street in Louisiana, Missouri. Built for Perseverance Lodge No. 92, A.F. & A.M., the building was designed in the Classical Revival style, dominated by its massive Ionic columns and triangular pediment.

Freemasonry had already been part of Louisiana for many decades by the time this temple was constructed. Perseverance Lodge traces its local history back into the 19th century, making the 1910 building the home of a well-established Missouri organization rather than a newly formed lodge.

The old postcard shown here is particularly interesting because it is marked Copyright 1910 and was mailed from Louisiana in August 1910, meaning the photograph shows the temple when it was virtually brand new.

By 2024, the Masonic Temple was still standing on Georgia Street, more than a century after this photograph was taken. Its grand columned entrance remains one of Louisiana’s most distinctive historic architectural features.

🇺🇸The building is a contributing property in the Georgia Street Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.🇺🇸

Final order for 2026 will be placed on July 30, 2026 with the hopes of getting them back and hung by Labor Day 2026. We may continue program in 2027 if demand is high. If you are a family or veteran going through a hardship, let’s see if we can match you up with a donor and make sure the veterans are honored throughout the city also! If anyone would like to make a donation to help offset the cost for other veterans and families please contact City Clerk Chris Keisker Monday through Thursday at City Hall.
