Thank you all for reaching out with your love and support of The Village Preschool. Several people have asked about writing letters. Please read below and take a few minutes to send an email in support of the preschool remaining open for one more year.

Laura is asking that the preschool remain in operation for one more school year in order for her to close it properly after 21 years. This time would also allow her to assist families with identifying and getting on waitlists with other programs which suit their child’s individual learning needs. Letters in support of the preschool remaining open for one more year may be sent to Janet Gulezian, CHCC moderator at [email protected]. Please CC Laura at [email protected]

With Gratitude,

My name is Karen Haskins and was a former director at The Village Preschool for six years. This Sunday the church members will be voting at the end of their 10:00am service to close the school at the end of this school year. They anounced the timing of this as Laura and other families had left the state for February break. Many are asking what can be done. I will be there on Sunday at 9:15 with my kids (former Village Preschoolers) with signs displaying our love and support for The Village Preschool. I invite other former and current families to join me in peaceful support. I will also attend the service and am hoping to be able to read something to the congregation on Laura’s behalf. She would like one more year with the preschool to close it on her terms and give families more time to enroll/get on waitlists elsewhere. This preschool program has been an integral part in the early learning years for well over 300 students and deserves one more year in which Laura Curran, who had served the school for over 20 years, can oversee the final year, bring proper closure to the program, and assist families to find other programs to fit their children needs.

Comment “CRASH” for our list of crash toys your child needs for improving proprioception and sensory seeking behaviors.

Some kids, especially those with sensory-seeking behaviors, often need to crash, bump and smash to calm their body and brain.

Toys that allow kids to build their proprioceptive system help them to do the following:

🤸‍♀️Attend and focus better
🤸‍♀️Understand personal and social boundaries
🤸‍♀️Provides the brain and body with more sensory input
🤸‍♀️Allows the body to calm and regulate so it can stay engaged in the classroom

To find out all the benefits of crashing and for the full list of crash toys that may be helpful for your child, comment “CRASH” and we’ll send you the link.

There are so many benefits for kids when they turn book pages: fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, focus, and attention, etc.

If you have trouble with little ones eating the books, you might want to get some of the indestructible books. They are chew-proof, rip-proof, and drool-proof.😅

We’ve gotten so used to asking kids: What did you make? What did you build? What did you finish?

But that question reflects our need for results. Not their process.

Children don’t play to produce something for our approval. They play to test ideas, follow curiosity, take risks, and make decisions that matter to them.

And sometimes, the most important thing they make…is a choice.

Play is not a task to complete. It’s not about output. It’s about the child. Their thinking, their agency, their moment of “I want to try this.”

When we let go of the pressure to turn every experience into a product, we open up space for something more meaningful to emerge.

Let the play be enough.
