Need a fun way to review math skills this Thanksgiving break? How about a tasty array to review multiplication!
All you need is a whiteboard, dry erase markers, and your child's favorite snack! Start by setting up the whiteboard with a 12-frame, solve 2x6, 6x2, then eat 2 rows of snacks, and restart with a 10-frame, 5x2, 2x5, all the way until the snacks are gone!
When introducing multiplication, arrays can help your child visualize how numbers interact and strengthen their number sense, but adding snacks is sure to make them hungry for learning more! 😋

DTP is putting the spotlight on Urban Peak, Lanay, and our very own Andrew Harvey 🌟📣
Lanay was Urban Peak's October Student of the Month and has obtained her GED with her sights set on college and a bright future in sunny California!
Thank you, Andrew, for your hard work with the GED program at Urban Peak. The work you have done, as Annalisa says, is leading to even more success for Urban Peak youth!!
Lanay is our October Student of the Month! She is 23 years old and has her own unit in an Urban Peak apartment building. She has been attending our GED program in partnership with Denver Test Prep and hopes to attend college once she completes her GED. She plans to start at community college but hopes to transfer to UCLA in sunny California! Her goal is either to work with animals or become an actor.
Lanay loves playing video games like NBA2K, Fortnite and Madden and watching anime TV shows like Demonslayer and Naruto.
We are so proud of Lanay for her hard work on her GED and we can’t wait to see where she goes next!

DTP is putting the spotlight on:
📣 The Challenge Foundation and it's newest scholar recipients! 📣
This year, The Challenge Foundation is celebrating 25 years of helping students break the cycle of poverty and open doors to a brighter future.
Their newest class of scholar recipients is comprised of students who hope to be doctors, builders, teachers, and so much more!
DTP is proud to partner with The Challenge Foundation and provide literacy and test prep instruction to their scholars. As we listened to each presentation at the Challenge fundraising event this past week, we were truly inspired by the impact that this organization has made on the scholars as well as the entire Denver community!

HAPPY SUMMER to ALL of our wonderful students! You made us laugh and love what we do (even more) and made us so, so proud this year! :)

With the summer quickly approaching, our teens and tweens are looking for ways to wind down from their busy school-year schedules.
This recent NPR article discusses how our kids are aware of the harmful mental health effects of spending too much time on social media and how you can help them navigate towards a more positive screen-time experience this summer.
To find out more, listen to the 7-minute audio or read the article linked here:
Teens say social media is stressing them out. Here's how to help them
Many parents are worried about their kids losing themselves for hours on their phones. Turns out, teens are troubled too. But they also know a lot about how to get unhooked. Here's how they do it.

It's that time of the year again: time for REVIEW GAMES!! One of the reading team's favorite games comes from The Florida Center for Reading Research and makes reviewing all 6 syllable types fun and engaging for our students!
In Syllable Trivia, students take turns picking a trivia card from the pile (ex: has two syllables - one is closed, and one is open). Then, they look for a word on their board that matches the description. If they have the word, they mark it, and whoever completes their board first, wins!
We love this game because it is easy to prep and reuse (thanks to pocket sleeves), and it easily engages our students to "lock in" previously taught concepts before the summer!
