Student Pick Up/Drop Off
Update-August 23, 2026
Why has our system changed?
Having two lanes unload/load created an unsafe environment for students and staff. It was challenging to monitor students going in and out of cars in two lanes to ensure that we released cars when it was clear.
As with any new system, there is a trial time. We have already adjusted due to feedback and our own observations.
For drop off and pick up:
You will enter Jamison Ave as one lane on the right side. You will stop where the person is with the stop sign. When you are cleared to go, merge to the left and begin creating two lanes. Before the curb, begin zippering to one lane. Pull up as close as you can to the car in front of you.
Drop off:
Have your child ready to exit on the driver's side near the curb. They may open the door and get out as soon as they see adults. Please do not get out of the car as this slows down our process. We will unload approximately 10 cars at a time. Once unloaded, those cars will be released to go.
In the morning, we are hoping to have a person directing traffic on Long Ave. If you see someone there, they will direct you to go through the stop sign to get traffic going quicker.
This person will also direct cars onto Jamison Ave while keeping an eye on buses to get them in and out of our lower parking lot.
Pick up:
Please have your sign ready on the mirror with student name(s) and grade(s). We will have a person using a radio to read the names of the students to our staff supporting students. Please stay in your car. We will assist younger students. Once approximately 10 cars are loaded, we will release.
Parking on the street:
Please do not park on the street during pick up/drop off time and come to the bottom of the stairs. We want to ensure that students are picked up safely. Student safety is compromised as we do not have a check out process for any adult who comes to pick up at the bottom of the stairs. Our two options are to ride the bus or the pick-up line.
Bus transportation:
The majority of our students are bus eligible. If you have any questions about how to get your student on the bus, please reach out to our main office or CCSD transportation. We are currently working on getting bus tags for our Kindergarten students. They are allowed to ride the bus without their tag, and they will tell the bus driver their name to log in.
