Earlier this month, the 2026 Young Cattlemen’s Conference drew 69 emerging leaders together from across the country for an immersive look at every segment of the beef supply chain. The program took them to Colorado, Iowa, Ohio and concluded in Washington, D.C., where participants gained firsthand exposure to the people, businesses and organizations driving America’s beef industry forward.
Over eight days, attendees explored cattle feeding, beef processing, retail, foodservice and public policy. They strengthened their industry knowledge, sharpened their advocacy skills, and developed a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the beef community.
Every year, YCC fosters connections among the next generation of cattle producer leaders. As participants returned home, they did so with new perspectives, a renewed commitment to the industry, and relationships that will last a lifetime.
We are thankful for the support of John Deere, Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, Tyson Foods, Farm Credit and Merck Animal Health Cattle for making YCC possible.

🌦️🔥 Two major weather stories will dominate the week of June 15–21 across the U.S.
First, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from the Lower Mississippi Valley into the Gulf Coast and Southeast. With storms repeatedly moving over some of the same areas, localized flooding could become a concern, especially during the first half of the week.
At the same time, summer heat is turning up the intensity. Record heat for parts of the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin and Desert Southwest early in the week before shifting eastward. By next weekend, producers across Florida, the Southeast and portions of the Southern Plains could be dealing with heat index values topping 105°F.
Gusty winds and dry conditions may also elevate wildfire concerns across parts of the Southwest and Four Corners region later in the week.
👀 Whether you're tracking storms or preparing for the heat, it's shaping up to be a very active week of weather across much of the country.

In response to the U.S. Department of Agriculture detecting one case of New World Screwworm in a calf in South Texas, NCBA CEO Colin Woodall released the following statement:
“NCBA and our state partner organizations have been working for more than a year to combat the incursion of the New World Screwworm, and we are doing everything possible to protect the interests of American cattle producers. We appreciate USDA and other agencies for working rapidly to bolster critical resources that protect producers, including building a domestic sterile fly facility, increasing fly surveillance, and expediting the availability of necessary drugs and treatments for cattle. We defeated this harmful pest before in the 1960s by investing heavily in sterile fly dispersal and NCBA will continue using every tool in the toolbox to ensure Screwworm is eradicated in the U.S. once again.”
