Spring is coming! Well, astronomical spring. . . and so now is a good time to learn about the Spring Equinox, due to arrive on March 20 at around 8:45 am here in Colorado.

It is so important for parents to stay on top of what schools are doing. Or not doing.

Nineteen‑year‑old Aleysha Ortiz of Hartford, Connecticut, has filed a lawsuit against the Hartford Board of Education, the City of Hartford, and a former special education case manager, alleging negligence after she graduated from Hartford Public High School with honors despite being unable to read or write. Ortiz, who moved to Connecticut from Puerto Rico as a child and began college at the University of Connecticut last fall, says her struggles with literacy were documented by her school but not adequately addressed with proper educational support.

In statements accompanying her lawsuit, Ortiz explains that throughout her time in the public school system she often relied on speech‑to‑text and text‑to‑speech tools just to complete assignments, and that school staff failed to provide the interventions she needed for foundational reading and writing skills. The legal complaint asserts that school officials were aware of her challenges but did not ensure she received effective instruction or accommodations, which left her ill‑prepared academically despite graduating with honors and earning a college scholarship.

The case has sparked broader discussions about education quality, special education support, and accountability within public school systems. Ortiz’s lawsuit seeks damages for the educational neglect she claims to have experienced, and highlights concerns about how some students — especially those with learning differences or language barriers — may be passed through the system without mastering essential skills.

AP Chemistry students: reaction energy profiles show up everywhere in this course, and they are a high-value topic for the AP exam.
It’s not enough to recognize “exothermic vs. endothermic.” On AP questions, you’re often expected to use the diagram as evidence: identify ΔH from reactant and product energy levels, compare Ea for forward vs. reverse reactions, explain what the transition state represents, and justify what a catalyst changes (lower Ea) and what it does not change (ΔH and the energies of reactants and products). Those details are exactly what turns a vague explanation into a scoring-quality answer.

Peak Tutoring helps AP Chemistry students build that level of mastery. We break down the concepts clearly, practice the typical exam prompts, and develop a repeatable method for writing strong, well-supported explanations under time pressure so that you can feel confident on unit tests now and ready for the May AP Chemistry exam.

AP U.S. History students: if you’re in Period 6 right now, this is one of the moments when the course starts to feel faster and the AP exam starts to feel more “essay-driven.”

Learning about Immigration in the late 19th century is not just about memorizing a set of facts. Instead, the topic provides you with evidence that can be used to write stronger LEQs and DBQs: push–pull factors, urbanization and industrial labor needs, political machines and voting coalitions, the rise of nativism, and federal policy shifts such as the Chinese Exclusion Act and the Geary Act.

On the AP exam, the difference between an adequate essay and a high-scoring essay is often the ability to integrate precise Period 6 details into a clear argument, then connect those details to causation, change over time, and broader historical context.

Peak Tutoring helps APUSH students do exactly that. We build a practical toolkit for essay writing: thesis practice, contextualization, evidence selection, and quick, organized outlines. That way, you can approach unit tests and the May AP U.S. History exam with confidence.

AP Biology students: Mendel is up next. And it’s one of the most testable units on the AP exam.

If you’re about to start pea-plant genetics, now is the time to make sure you can do more than memorize ratios. Peak Tutoring helps students build real mastery of Mendelian inheritance by connecting the concepts to what you’ll actually see on quizzes and the May AP Biology exam: monohybrid vs. dihybrid crosses, segregation and independent assortment (and when they apply), testcrosses, probability shortcuts, and the common “why don’t the ratios fit?” exceptions.

My goal in every session is the same: clear explanations, structured practice, and steady confidence-building, so that you walk into class prepared and walk into the AP exam ready.

📊 AP Economics: Thinking Like an Economist 📊

For many high school students, AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics are the first courses that ask them to think about the world like real economists and to connect theory and data, analyze tradeoffs, and explain how decisions shape markets and societies.

But the pace is fast, the content is dense, and the College Board’s expectations are high. Without support, students can find it tough to keep up with new models, complex graphs, and timed essay questions.

That’s where tutoring makes a real difference.

At Peak Tutoring, we help students:

📈 Understand supply, demand, and market behavior — not just memorize formulas
💬 Learn how to explain economic reasoning clearly and effectively
🧠 Build confidence for the AP exam’s multiple-choice and free-response sections
📅 Stay organized and develop study habits that lead to lasting success

Our one-on-one sessions are built around each student’s goals and learning style, whether that means reinforcing what’s taught in class or moving ahead at a faster pace.

The result? Deeper understanding, higher scores, and greater confidence.

🌄 With Peak Tutoring, students climb toward the height of learning, where understanding, strategy, and success come together.

📍 In-person sessions available in the south Denver area and online statewide.
