Our latest class of Police Cadets started their journey on August 10th. A few more months of training and they will be ready to hit the streets.

Congratulations to Cole Turner for being sworn in as a Spencerville Police Officer. Cole graduated in 2025 from the Wright State Police Academy. Cole has promised Commander Ernst that he will keep my hometown safe.

Our academy started their first night of class on Monday. Last night several cadets received scholarships.

Scholarships were from the Carpenter Family Scholarship, The Mercer County Civic Foundation and the William Applegate Scholarship

Congratulations to all the recipients Tyson McGee, Tate Steinke, Caiden Berry, Alex Orgill and Kendall Dorsey.

We are excited about TriStars new Law Enforcement Program. Putting students on the right path before they come across the road and enroll in our program.

Tri Star Career Compact Director Tim Buschur joined Kevin Sandler on Spectrum to talk about the start of a new school year, including new staff, the new Law and Public Service program, strong enrollment and what’s ahead for career-tech education.

They also discussed Tri Star’s August 24 open house for incoming juniors and parents, the August 26 first day of classes, and a new ODOT highway sign that will help put Tri Star on the map.

RIP Brother

The Euclid Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the Rittman Police Department and the family of Sgt. Scott Ries, who was killed in the line of duty last night.

Losing an officer is a pain no agency ever forgets, and our hearts are with the Rittman community, the injured officers, and everyone affected by this tragedy. Sgt. Ries served with honor, courage, and a commitment to protecting others; a legacy that will not be forgotten.

We stand with Rittman PD and Wayne County during this difficult time. 💙
