Due to the extreme heat, Spartan football practices have been moved to the mornings for the remainder of the week. HS: 5:00–7:00 AM (bus leaves Cedar Vale at 4:30 AM). MS: 7:00–8:20 AM; players will make up 1st hour during 7th hour. Volleyball will remain at its regular after-school practice time. Thank you!

The Cedar Vale Board of Education and district administration met with Tony Helfrich, Leadership Field Consultant with KASB, for a focused conversation on expectations and goals for our new superintendent, Greg Brown and the Board of Education.

Mr. Helfrich guided the group through a discussion about leadership priorities, communication practices, and the shared responsibilities that shape a healthy governance team. Together, the board and administration reflected on what Cedar Vale needs most from its superintendent — clarity in direction, consistency in communication, and a commitment to building strong relationships across the district and community.

The conversation also centered on the Board’s role in supporting that leadership: maintaining unified expectations, honoring the chain of command, and modeling collaboration.

The board and administration share an understanding of the path forward — one grounded in teamwork, transparency, and a commitment to serving the students and families of USD 285.

We had a couple of special guests join us for Walk Around this morning!

Superintendent Mr. Brown and his therapy dog, Maizy, joined our elementary students for some morning walking, music, and fun! 🐾 We loved having them start the day with us, and Maizy was definitely a hit!

Congratulations to Justice Jennings!

Justice was selected as Ms. Cedar Vale by the Cedar Vale Chamber of Commerce!

She will proudly represent our school and community at the Cedar Vale Labor Day Parade and the Arkalalah celebrations in Arkansas City.

Drumroll, please..... Here are the students who have donated their time to FFA for a Labor Auction! We have 8 hardworking high school kids! Please see pictures for more information on the students! We look forward to seeing you on September 5th during the Rodeo!
