We’ve had an incredible season of coding, creating, and exploring, and now it’s time to celebrate! Join us for the CoderDojo End of Season Celebration on Saturday, May 16.

Whether your kiddo is a regular at our stations or has never attended before, this is the perfect time to jump in. We’ll have all the favorites, including:

NewBoCo Education, in partnership with Code.org, is excited to offer this virtual training module for 6th–10th-grade educators across the country. This session is designed to empower teachers with tools and resources that bring computer science into their classrooms through engaging, hands-on units.

Our next session will be held on Tuesday, May 5, from 6-8 pm.

This professional learning module is designed to prepare you to teach Code.org’s Programming with Music Lab curriculum. This curriculum, for grades 6-10, is an engaging, hands-on dive into the worlds of computer science, music, and problem solving.

Join us this Saturday for a CoderDojo event featuring the Korriban Squad of the 501st Legion!

Just days away from “May the Fourth Be With You,” we will be celebrating Star Wars with the Korriban Squad of the 501st Legion. The Legion promotes interest in Star Wars and facilitates the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events, in addition to contributing to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.

In addition to celebrating with the Korriban Squad, we will encase a Star Wars character, Han Solo into oobleck, a mixture of cornstarch and water that is briefly frozen. Let’s learn the science behind this concoction!

In this session, the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy will host a station where we participate in hands-on learning using musical instruments. There are many ways in which musical and STEM concepts are not only similar but essentially identical.
