Brody ended his season with a bang at the AAU National Champs. He ran a HUGE PR in 11.79!! That's crazy FAST for a 14 year old! If you run your best times when it counts the most, you are doing it right! Congrats, Brody and Mom and Dad! Proud of you, Brody!

Another big week for track! Brody competes in the 100m at the AAU Junior Olympics National Championships in Des Moines on Tuesday. On Wednesday Abby M competes in the Long Jump at the U20 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Both of these guys have extended their training seasons by months to earn these prestigious opportunities. What an amazing combination of God-given ability and commitment! The Speed Alliance athletes had a fantastic State Meet! 13 athletes from 6 different schools competed. They earned 2 State Titles, 11 top-8 medals, several PR's as well as a few School Records. Also, Payton was inducted into the Iowa Girls Track and Field Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all these athletes, their teammates, parents and coaches. It's truly a blessing to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and hard-working group of athletes.

Saturday Payton (Wensel) Hunger will be inducted into the IGHSAU Track Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the State Meet. She will be the first and only member of the Class of 2018 to this point. I've been sitting on this news for quite a while waiting for a press release. However, that won't happen until after the ceremony. I wanted to get this out because I know many of you followed her at Linn Mar and the University of Iowa. Some of you may be at the State Meet, and I wanted you to share in the celebration as you were a big part of her track career.

Wednesday Casey and I hit the Augustana LCQ to watch Kyra and Peyton Steffen run the 1500. Thursday I traveled to North Scott and Central Dewitt to watch Linn Mar, Marion and West Delaware compete at their State Qualifying Meets.
The high schoolers from the group competed like champs and qualfied for State in a bunch of events. Congratulations to them, their teammates, parents and coaches!
