The Speed Alliance athletes had a fantastic State Meet! 13 athletes from 6 different schools competed. They earned 2 State Titles, 11 top-8 medals, several PR's as well as a few School Records. Also, Payton was inducted into the Iowa Girls Track and Field Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all these athletes, their teammates, parents and coaches. It's truly a blessing to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and hard-working group of athletes.

Saturday Payton (Wensel) Hunger will be inducted into the IGHSAU Track Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the State Meet. She will be the first and only member of the Class of 2018 to this point. I've been sitting on this news for quite a while waiting for a press release. However, that won't happen until after the ceremony. I wanted to get this out because I know many of you followed her at Linn Mar and the University of Iowa. Some of you may be at the State Meet, and I wanted you to share in the celebration as you were a big part of her track career.

I've got several videos yet to come, but I'm squeezing in a vacation between the Conference and State Qualifying Meets, so I'm a bit behind.
Kaylene (LJ, DMR, SMR, 4x4) competed at the CPU Girls MS Meet on Tuesday. She ran some very impressive relay splits! She anchored the winning SMR and led off the winning DMR. She also jumped very well finishing 3rd with 14-5". Great to hang out with Heidi Cordes, Nancy Cordes and Casey Cordes.
Back to the track on Monday for Brody's MS meet at Excelsior and the latter part of Marion's home meet. Jerzey (Solon) ran her 200 PR (27.34) and Loraiya (Kennedy) hit her 100 PR (13.68). Brody ran two outstanding PR's - 100 (11.5h) and 200 (24.4h).

It was a busy end of the week. I didn't get to all the meets, but I did manage getting quite a few videos for the track junkies that follow the group. Here's a few highlights...
Thursday - Kaylene was 2nd in the LJ (14-10) and ran on the Marion MS winning DMR. Cambell won the 400 and anchored the Oakridge MS SMR to a win. In Cedar Falls Abby M won the LJ (19-9.5") by almost 3 feet! Brooklyn ran a killer 12.42 PR. Reese ran her 200 PR (27.26). Anna added a 3rd in the 400.
Friday - Abby C ran on Marion's winning SMR, 4x1, and 4x2 relays.
At the American Rivers Conference (ARC) Meet, Peyton Steffen won the Steeple Chase for Central. Kyra won her 800 prelim and ran on Central's School Record 4x8 team. They ran under the Facility Record and were Runner-Up. Mary Gustason ran her 100 SB (12.34) to qualify for the final.
Saturday - Peyton added a 5K Championship. She ran under the Facility Record in the 1500 and was Runner-Up. Kyra was 5th in the 1500 and 6th in the 800 about an hour apart. Mary ran on Central's outstanding 4x1 Runner-Up with a 47.29 SB.
Didn't want to miss mentioning Brody's meet last week where he ran his 100 (11.7h) and 200 (24.9h) PR's to win both events.
Back to the track at Vinton on Tuesday to watch Anna O (West Delaware SMR, 4x2, 4x1, 4x4) and Annika (Alburnett SMR, DMR, 200, 4x1). West Delaware won the 4x200 and were runners-up on the other three relays. They also won the team title.
