A message from the Jr Cougar Board:

Hello Jr. Cougar families,
I hope everyone is enjoying the first day of summer break. As you are making plans for your summer, we wanted to get you information related to Jr. Cougar Basketball.

First, registration for the 2022-2023 Jr. Cougar Basketball season is open. Please take a few minutes to register your son by going to www.juniorcougarbasketball.com and clicking on the "Registration Info" tab and then the "Available Programs" link. Registration will close July 5th!

The Summer Clinic and Evaluation dates are updated on our website as well (under Events and Camps and Clinic). Our Summer Clinics will be July 6 & July 12. The 3rd & 4th grade clinic will run from 6:00 - 7:00, 5th & 6th grade clinics from 7:00 - 8:00 and 7th & 8th grade clinic from 8:00 - 9:00. As a reminder, your son must be registered for the upcoming season in order to participate in the clinics so please register as soon as possible.

Evaluations are scheduled for July 19th @ Kennedy High school and July 25th @ Mt. Mercy - Hennessey Rec Center. Similar timing as clinics with 3rd & 4th going from 6:00 - 7:00, 5th & 6th going from 7:00 - 8:00 and 7th & 8th going from 8:00 - 9:00.

Also a reminder that Kennedy Basketball Camp weeks are June 13 and June 27. This is another great opportunity for your child to get some gym time and work on skills before evaluations.

All-Metro boys' basketball 2021: Kennedy's Caleb Schlaak is Player of the Year Caleb Schlaak of Cedar Rapids Kennedy has been named boys' basketball Player of the Year in the Metro.

An exciting game to say the least to wrap up the 2020-2021 season in the Substate Final game against Johnston. Cougars battled hard but Johnston persevered coming out on top 65-63. Trading leads back and forth the entire game and going into overtime on a tightly guarded 3 pointer from Kenzie Reed and a quick miss and controversial non foul attempted put back by Johnston’s #44. Going into overtime Johnston took a quick lead. Cougars missed a few crucial free throws down the stretch allowing Johnston to maintain the lead by 2 at the buzzer. As heart breaking of a loss as it was these young men should be proud as they fought til the very end!! In an unprecedented season and mostly empty gyms due to COVID spectator restrictions these young men improved drastically from game 1. Proud of you all!! Thank you for a great season C🏀UGARS, thank you coaches and good luck to the seniors as they continue their journey!!
