For days, much like you, I have grieved and prayed for the things that are beyond my control in other parts of the world.

I have also grieved and prayed for our children and family. I wish our babes didn't have to know about the ugly things of this world. I am so very thankful that the Lord still takes care of all of the little things while there are so many BIG things.

As I was thinking of us parents with children, I came across this post. I found it addressing the very thing my heart couldn't put into words. I hope it encourages you. 🙏

Leander ISD has canceled school on Monday, January 26th, “due to continued freezing conditions and hazardous travel concerns"; therefore, we will be closed, as well. We will continue to closely monitor Tuesday's weather and Leander ISD's evaluation of travel concerns. If schedule adjustments are needed, we will communicate promptly via Connect.

Grief is hard.
Kids feel it too.

Check out this free resource available tomorrow. I hope you find this beneficial. We could all use some help with words right now, especially as we support our babes in their grief.

I (Sissy Goff) spent six of my most formative summers on the Guadalupe River at a girls’ camp just down the road from Camp Mystic, laughing and learning and having cokes and candy at the Hunt Store at the end of camp. Like you, I’ve been heartbroken for the Mystic families, and the entire Hill Country community. The impact has rippled through us all. And, there are parents who are having to and will continue to have hard conversations with their kids. Parents who are helplessly watching their girls (and boys) grieve. Sitting with siblings to talk about the unspeakable and unimaginable. Mystic families, every single one of us would do anything we can to help. And here’s what I would be so honored to do, after several of you have asked for resources for your schools and churches and friends:

At 10am and 4:30 pm tomorrow, I’m going to host two zooms for any parents/grandparents/family members/friends impacted by the flooding. I’ll spend 20-30 minutes talking about how we can talk with our kids and help them process their grief. As families and as communities. And then, I’ll give you an opportunity to ask questions. You can join either time…or both, if you’d like. The sign up is at the link in my bio. It’s a free seminar. All are welcome. In the meantime, just know that we’re standing alongside you. Praying. Grieving. And still hoping.
