Velocity Music Academy, named for Czerny’s “School of Velocity" (musical exercises written in the 1830s to develop dexterity at the piano), is Austin's leading school for music lessons. With 18 instructors and 300 students, our busy academy is the perfect place to begin your musical journey. Velocity Music Academy employs only degreed musicians, many with masters and doctoral degrees in music. We

🐾 Paws for Applause 🐾 is coming up on Saturday September 26! We are collecting supplies, treats, packaged food, collars, toys and more for pups and cats at our Cedar Park Location! Drop off donations at our front desk and mark your calendar for 9/26.

Our live music event will feature performances from our students and staff as well as having adoptable pups available for you to love on (and adopt!).

🎻 Music is meant to be shared!

We loved seeing beloved Velocity teacher Bennie perform alongside her violin student at last week’s recital. Moments like these are exactly why we believe music education goes beyond the private lesson room.

At Velocity Music Academy Cedar Park, students can develop their individual skills through private lessons while also discovering the joy of making music together through ensembles and performance opportunities.

And this September, our Step Onstage Strings program is back! 🎶

Part of our Step Onstage Performance Initiative, this 8-week program gives classical students the opportunity to rehearse, collaborate, develop ensemble skills, and prepare for a performance. Rehearsals take place on Sundays beginning in September, and the program is open to violin, viola, cello, upright bass, and piano students.

Our Step Onstage programs support both our classical and rock students, with 8–12 week programs designed to take students from rehearsal to the stage and give them a chance to experience the excitement of performing with their peers.

Experiences like these are what our Step Onstage Performance Initiative is all about—helping students grow as confident musicians while performing alongside experienced teachers in a supportive ensemble setting.

🎶☀ Jazz Pop and Rock Fest RECAP! 🎉
Our 4th Annual Jazz, Pop & Rock Fest was one for the books! Students from Velocity Music Academy and Northwest School of Music took the stage at Steamer Lane Music on Saturday, July 25, filling the room with incredible performances, unforgettable moments, and a whole lot of heart.
From jazz standards and pop favorites to rock anthems, every performer brought something special to the stage. We are so proud of each student who stepped into the spotlight and shared the results of their hard work, dedication, and love of music.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to Steamer Lane Music for hosting this amazing community event, to our incredible teachers and staff for mentoring, cheering on, and even performing alongside our students, and to all of the parents, families, and friends whose encouragement makes events like this possible. Your support means the world to our musicians!
Performance opportunities like these are what music education is all about—building confidence, making lifelong memories, and celebrating the joy of making music together.
