Dear Hanover Families,
Your student should have brought home, or you may have received at Back-to-School Night, a required Parent Consent & Information Packet. While some of you may have received this prior to the devastating weather we endured, we still require those documents to be returned. Please complete the packet in full and return it to school no later than Monday, August 24.

Here's a reminder of what’s included on the form:
- PreK: FERPA and Photograph consent
- K–2: COPPA, FERPA, and Photography consent
- Grades 3–12: COPPA, FERPA, Photography consent, and Biometric Finger Scanning for school lunches

These items ensure we comply with legal requirements and protect student privacy while providing essential services. We appreciate everyone's help in completing and returning this necessary information by Monday, August 24. Students should return the completed form to their primary/SRT teacher.

Thank you for completing and returning this form promptly to help us start the school year smoothly.

Sincerely,
Hanover Community School Corporation

Dear Hanover Families,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe, with power restored or well on its way back, as we all continue recovering from this week’s severe weather.

I want to confirm that K-12 students will resume school on Monday, August 17. Hanover Learning Academy (Pre-K) students will return on Tuesday, August 18.

In an effort to make sure conditions are safe for students returning, the Hanover team personally connected with representatives from NIPSCO, the Cedar Lake Street Department, our Police Department, and our Fire Department. Each entity confirmed that, from their perspective, our community and our buildings are ready for students to return safely.

Lincoln, Jane Ball, and the Hanover Learning Academy will hold their Back to School Nights on Monday, August 17. Those schools will be sending out details directly.

We know this has been a difficult week, and we are grateful for your patience, resilience, and flexibility as we worked to make the right decision for our students, staff, and community. We hope Monday marks a welcome return to normal routines for all of us.

Thank you for being such a supportive community. We look forward to having our students back for the start of an excellent school year.

Sincerely,
Phil Misecko
Superintendent

IMPORTANT- STUDENT INFORMATION NEEDED

I hope that you and your family are safe and recovering quickly from the storms. This is not the ideal way to start a school year but we are working to keep it as smooth as possible under the circumstances. Please see the important information below and complete the Google Form to help your child have a great first day of school. (The submission of the Google Form is absolutely imperative.)

As you likely know, all Hanover school buildings have had electricity and internet restored. The corporation is continuing the tentative plan for the first school day being on Monday, August 17.

Our Back-to-School Night is being rescheduled for Monday, August 17 from 5:30-7:00 PM for all students in grades K, 1 & 2.

Normally, we collect a Gold Note for your child at Back-to-School Night. With the delay of school we want to collect this important information needed before the first day of school to help ensure your child arrives home safely following the correct dismissal routine. Please complete the Google Form no later than Friday, August 14 @2:00PM. Again, this is so we know how your child is to go home from school.

If you have not done so already, please fill out this Google Form no later than Friday, 8/14 at 2:00 PM. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf-3jWSIEgDWlrIwjGolslnE85xoP49JDunMDwm_c18J_esuA/viewform

Additionally, if you are able, especially kindergarten parents, please place a piece of paper, Post-It, sticker, etc. on your child's shirt on the first day of school to help us with knowing their name and their teacher's name. It is not uncommon for our young 5 year old students to forget their teacher's name when they walk in the building.

To provide as much help as possible, our kindergarten teachers have made arrangements to be at Lincoln tomorrow, August 14 from 9:00AM-12:00PM. If you are able, we invite kindergarten students and parents to come into the building to drop off school supplies, see the classroom, and meet the teacher. Teachers will also be able to provide some quick pieces of information to help with the first day. This is intended as a quick stop-in and kindergarten teachers will still hold Back-to-School night where they can provide more information.

Thank you,
Mr. Zaremba

Families,

I thank you for your patience again as we meet and work out plans for the next few days.

As of right now, our first day of school will be Monday, August 17th. Hopefully Mother Nature stays on our side and allows that to happen!

Our Back to School Night is tentatively scheduled for Monday night from 5:30 to 7:00. It will run the same as previously scheduled with 2 sessions. One session will begin at 5:30, and the second session will begin at 6:15. For our first and second grade families, you can wait to bring your supplies until Monday night.

KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES ONLY PLEASE READ BELOW

We know that the beginning of kindergarten can be a very uneasy time for our littlest learners. The kindergarten teachers will be here from 9:00 AM -12:00 PM tomorrow, August 14th, for anyone who would like to stop in, drop off supplies, meet their teacher, and see where they will be going on Monday. This will not take the place of Back to School Night for kindergarten, as all of the teacher information will still be shared on Monday night during the whole school Back to School Night. However, we are hopeful that this "pop in" will alleviate some of the uneasiness of not being able to come in the night before.

This "pop-in" is not mandatory for our kindergarten families, just an option if you would like to participate.

If you have any questions, please call the main office at 219-374-3700.

Normally, we collect a Gold Note for your child at back-to-school night. With the delay of school and back-to-school night, we are trying our best to get as much information as possible before the first day so we can be prepared.

If you have not done so already, please fill out this Google Form no later than Friday, 8/14 at 2:00 PM. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSevZu8ZcLrN3kFF54IWJpcEK40nqGn1iH4fvmMG9W2Sl5WikA/viewform?usp=header

Dear Hanover Families,

Due to the widespread power outages and hazardous road conditions caused by this week's storm, tonight’s Back to School Night and school on Thursday, August 13, and Friday, August 14, have been canceled.

This decision gives us time to fully assess every building to make sure they are safe and ready for students, allows our community time to clear and clean roads and restore traffic signals, and gives families time to take care of any issues at home, including power restoration.

We are currently anticipating that students will return on Monday, August 17.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility this week. We know this storm has created challenges for many of our families, and the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

Sincerely,
Phil Misecko
Superintendent
