MS FOOTBALL - The MS Football Team won their season opener against Illiana 16 to 12.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS - IF YOU NEED TO PURCHASE A GYM UNIFORM, YOU WILL NEED TO COME DURING LUNCH TIMES ONLY.

CROSS COUNTRY - The Cross Country team is accepting new athletes this week! If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved, we’d love to have you! If interested: 1) IMPORTANT: All athletes must have a current sports physical on file and all paperwork green on final forms in order to participate! 2) Talk to Mr. York, Mr. Anderson, or Mrs. Dwyer. 3) Show up to practice after school with running clothes & running shoes. We look forward to having more people join us for our season!

PICTURE DAY - Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, August 25th. Pictures will be taken in the LGI Room. Please see flyer in Schoology or here in the Main Office.

SPELL BOWL - Spell Bowl will have a call out meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 26th in Mrs. Brady's room 453 during Zero Period.

TRAP - TRAP will be having a call out meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 26th in the LGI room during Zero Period.

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CLUB - Christian Fellowship Club will be having a call out meeting on Friday, Aug. 28th in Mrs. Lublow's Rm 454 at 7:25am. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend! Invite your friends and let everyone know!

YEARBOOK - The time to purchase your 26/27 yearbook is now. Cost is $30. Don't miss out on having those memories! Information is in the Main Office and Schoology.

PTSO - HCMS PTSO is sponsoring a Vendor Market on Saturday, August 29th from 9am - 2pm here at the MS. Please see flyer in Schoology or here in the Main Office.

8TH GR. WASHINGTON DC TRIP - ATTENTION 8th grade parents and students are invited 8th grade parents and students are invited to an informational meeting Wednesday, August 26th at 6pm in the LGI room. The trip for this year's 8th grade class is scheduled May 16-20, 2027 and information on the trip, fundraising, and chaperoning will be presented. Information packets will also be made available in the office after the presentation for those who cannot make the meeting. Parents can also reach out to [email protected] to request information.

Announcements for Tuesday, August 18th

Congratulations to the Boys Baseball White Team on their win, 5-3, against Highland yesterday. The Boys Baseball Blue team fought hard, but came up short.

ATTENTION 7TH & 8TH GR. Students - If you ordered a yearbook last year, please pick your yearkbook up during your lunch.

Due to the continued adjustments to our schedule, we have made another change to our volleyball tryout dates. Please review the updated schedule below carefully. 6th Grade Volleyball - Tryouts: Tuesday, August 18 | 2:45–4:30 PM. All students who try out will be notified at the end of tryouts on Tuesday whether they have made the team. First Official Practice: Wednesday, August 19. 7th & 8th Grade Volleyball - Tryouts: Tuesday, August 18 | 3:00–5:00 PM. Tryouts: Wednesday, August 19 | 3:00–5:00 PM. All students who try out will be notified at the end of tryouts on Wednesday whether they have made the team. First Official Practice: Thursday, August 20.

IMPORTANT: All athletes must have a current physical on file in order to participate in tryouts.
We appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility as we have worked through several schedule changes following last week's weather. We are looking forward to getting our athletes in the gym and officially getting the volleyball season underway!

6th Grade and New Student Orientation Information

Date: Thursday August 6th
Time: 6th Grade Orientation 9-11; 6th Grade Locker Loading: 11-12
New to HCMS Orientation: 1pm-2pm

1. Students can start being dropped off between 8:45 and 9 am

2. Students will be dropped off and picked up at the cafeteria doors (Doors F and G). This will be for 6th Grade Orientation and regular drop-off procedures too.

3. 6th Grade Orientation will last from 9 am-11 am, and 6th grade students only will be able to load their lockers with their belongings from 11 am-12 pm. We will allow parents into the building from 11 am-12 pm to help their children as well. If parents would rather do locker loading one of the other two days, they are welcome to do that as well.

4. Students will get a printout of their schedule on the day of 6th grade orientation

🗂️ HCMS Locker Loading — Options for Families

We’re offering multiple times so students (and working parents) can load lockers and get comfortable with the building before school:

Thursday, Aug 6 | 11:00 AM–12:00 PM — 6th grade students only (after 6th Grade Orientation)
Friday, Aug 7 | 8:00 AM–2:00 PM — All students (original date and times)
Friday, Aug 7 | 3:00 PM–6:00 PM — All students (evening session)
Monday, Aug 10 | 9:00 AM–1:00 PM — Final locker loading opportunity (all students)
If students cannot attend any session, they will load lockers on the first day of school.

Reminder rules: no locker wallpaper and no stickers (magnets are fine). 🐾
