New this semester! 🎵🎶 Campfire Guitar Class 🎶🎵 Have you always wanted to play guitar? Whether you dream of strumming your favorite hymn, folk tune, or campfire song, this fun and encouraging group class is the perfect place to begin. Students will learn the fundamentals of guitar and quickly gain the skills and confidence to start making music. Taught by Joel Hickman

Do you have an interest in the building blocks of music and how great melodies are created?

Students will explore the “why” behind the music they hear as they learn how melody, harmony, rhythm, and form work together. This hands-on class combines music theory and music history to introduce the fundamental building blocks of composition.

Along the way, students will put these ideas into practice by creating their own music and learning how to write and develop an engaging melody.

Earlier this month, Lakeside Artists Academy alumni had the opportunity to participate in the production of an Unshackled! episode.

For more than 75 years, Unshackled! has shared powerful true-life stories of lives transformed through faith. Produced by Chicago’s Pacific Garden Mission since 1950, this historic 30-minute radio drama is recorded before a live studio audience and heard around the world in multiple languages.

Please enjoy this remarkable episode featuring one man’s Titanic experience and the story that followed.

We are grateful to see Lakeside alumni using their talents in productions with such a long and meaningful history.

Introducing Saturday Symphony—a new full symphony orchestra for dedicated young musicians across Northwest Indiana.

Open by audition to musicians ages 14 and older, Saturday Symphony gives students the opportunity to perform orchestral masterworks, film scores, and modern favorites while developing advanced ensemble skills, confidence, discipline, and musicianship.

The orchestra will be directed by Andy Anderson, professional bassist with the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago and professor of double bass at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Associate director Benton Wedge is a professional violist with the Northwest Indiana Symphony.

With Saturday rehearsals, this new ensemble provides families with a high-level orchestral opportunity while preserving Sundays for worship, family, and other commitments.

Rehearsals begin Saturday, September 19, from 9:00–11:00 a.m. at the Sola Center for the Performing Arts at Illiana Christian High School.

Help us build a regional orchestra where young musicians can be challenged, encouraged, and inspired through the power and beauty of great music.
