🎨 There’s a little bit of magic in watching an idea change right before your eyes.

A marker touches a coffee filter. Water is added. Colors begin to move, blend and spread - and suddenly, what started as a few simple lines becomes something completely different. ✨

Our preschoolers got to explore that process for themselves, creating their own designs and then watching to see what would happen next.

And tucked inside all of that creating is so much learning.

They’re experimenting with cause and effect. Making predictions. Strengthening fine motor skills. Exploring color and design. Practicing patience as they wait and watch. And discovering that sometimes the most interesting part of creating is seeing where the process takes you. 💜

At Creative Beginnings, we believe some of the very best learning happens when children have the opportunity to wonder, experiment, create and discover.

And sometimes, they make some pretty beautiful art along the way. 🥰

It looks like we’re just playing with stickers… ✨

But in true Creative Beginnings fashion, there’s a whole lot more happening here. 💜

Picking a tiny sticker off a sheet, turning it the right direction, deciding exactly where it should go, and pressing it into place may seem simple to an adult.

For a preschooler? That’s work!

Those little fingers are practicing precise movements, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor control while strengthening the muscles they’ll eventually rely on for things like holding a pencil, forming letters, cutting with scissors, buttoning a coat, and so much more.

But we’re not just working those little hands.

We’re also creating. 🎨

Each child started with the same opportunity and got to decide what their finished product would look like. Which sticker? Which color? Where should it go? What comes next?
There’s no single “right” finished product - because creativity gives children the opportunity to make choices, trust their own ideas, and experience the pride of being able to say, “I made this.”

And while everyone was creating an individual project, something else was happening around the table.
They were talking. Sharing ideas. Watching what their friends were doing. Asking questions. Helping one another. Waiting for materials. Complimenting each other's choices. Learning how to work independently while still being part of a community.

Fine motor development.
Hand-eye coordination.
Creativity and decision-making.
Independence.
Confidence.
Language development.
Social skills.
And a whole lot of fun.

You may call it playing with stickers. But this is what learning looks like in preschool. 💜

💚💜💙At the beginning of a new school year, we go back to the basics. 🧡🩷

Of course, our days are already filled with learning, creating, moving, exploring, and playing - but these first weeks are also about intentionally teaching how we do all of those things together.

How do we move through the classroom? How do we take care of our materials? How do we treat our friends? What does it look like to play safely, solve problems, clean up, and be part of our classroom community?

And one of the things we explicitly teach: centers! 🎨🫖📖🏗👷‍♀️🏠🫘

Over the last few days, our students have been introduced to and explored our building, literacy, kitchen, art, math, dollhouse, and workbench centers. They learn what materials are available, what they can do there, how to use and care for those materials, and the boundaries that help everyone have a safe and successful center time.

Then comes the best part - they get to choose.

Our students choose where they'd like to explore and how long they'd like to stay there. If they're engaged and using the center successfully, there's no timer telling them it's time to move on just because the clock says so.

But that freedom lives inside structure.

Students use their dots to choose a center. Each center has a limited number of openings. Each space has expectations and boundaries designed to keep children safe, engaged, and able to play successfully alongside one another.

And really, centers are a pretty perfect little picture of what we believe learning should look like.

Structure balanced with freedom.
Routine balanced with creativity.
Clear expectations with plenty of room to explore.

Because young children absolutely need boundaries and predictability - but inside those boundaries, they also need opportunities to make choices, follow their interests, stay deeply engaged, and discover what happens when we give their curiosity somewhere to go. 💜

🎉 The countdown is over! Today is the day so many little learners begin an exciting new adventure. Whether your child is walking through the doors of Creative Beginnings Preschool or another preschool this morning, we hope their day is filled with smiles, new friendships, exciting discoveries, and lots of confidence. ❤️ To all of the amazing parents: take a deep breath. Today, we say goodbye to Summer 2026. ☀️💜

And what a beautiful season it has been.

In so many ways, this summer is extra special because it marks the end of our first full season at Creative Beginnings. We jumped into the 2025-2026 school year somewhere in the middle - learning, growing, building and figuring things out right alongside our kids. This summer was the first time we got to experience a season from start to finish, and what a journey it has been.

There were lots of lessons learned. Lots of growth. Lots of little moments that reminded us exactly why we started CBP in the first place.

And, of course, there was LOTS of fun. 💜🩷💙💚🧡

Today is a little bittersweet as we say goodbye to some of our summer friends and send them off on their next adventures. We can't wait to see what the 2026-2027 school year brings for each of them.

But endings also mean new beginnings. 🎉

On Monday, we'll welcome back familiar faces, meet so many new ones, and begin an entirely new season at CBP. A new year of creating, exploring, moving, discovering, learning and growing together.

Summer 2026 - you will always hold a special place in our hearts. 💜

And... 2026-2027... we're ready for you!
