5th grade wrapped up their CKLA Narrative Unit and celebrated by hosting "The Real San Giving Day". This celebration also incorporated the Tiger Ten skills of character, growth mindset, and creativity. Throughout this unit, students explored how personal experiences and cultural heritages shape narrative writing—including analyzing a story about a Cuban family experiencing Thanksgiving in America for the very first time. They enjoyed a special feast that represented items from the story, which for many students meant trying new things. Students also used their creativity in some fun activities connected to the theme.

Students in Mrs. Patterson's 3rd grade class have had a fun, busy week last week! They practiced creativity by using candy corn to solve multiplication problems in math. They also learned about critical thinking during our science show at UNI, Mr. C Live! Students had a blast, and as they were walking back to the bus, they even got to meet Mr. C. The show encouraged students to ask questions and solve problems about science.

Today, 6th graders in Mrs. Gerbig’s class got to experience something pretty amazing: metal casting right in our classroom! 🔥
Thank you to John Deere for bringing Foundry in a Box to our students and giving them this hands-on opportunity to experience a real-world manufacturing process.

This experience was a fantastic introduction to our upcoming unit on manufacturing and sales. Through Authentic Learning, students got hands-on with the process while practicing our Tiger Ten skills of character, communication, and growth mindset.

We’re excited to build on this experience as we continue exploring what it takes to design, manufacture, market, and sell a product! 🐯

Mrs. Raines’ students are learning all about bears during Fat Bear Week! They learned that bears eat seeds, so they got the chance to dig out their own sunflower seeds:)
