Southdale Elementary IMPACT PTO What is IMPACT? IMPACT isn’t a what, it’s a who! Involved Motivated Parents And Caring Teachers How Do We Make An IMPACT?

Teachers receive a stipend each year to enrich their classrooms. We also purchase new books for classrooms at our book fairs. Recently, we provided ukuleles for our music classroom and a much needed storage shed for our Pre-K teachers and students. We love sponsoring field trips, the yearbook, safety patrol, and family movie nights. Telling teachers “thank you” and appreciating them throughout the

year is an easy and fun job to do. In the past, we have facilitated Selling Candygrams, where students can send encouraging messages to each other along with a candy cane. Resurfacing the playground was our most recent multi-year project. We completed our goal of raising $80,000 and now our kids have a safe surface to play on. Our goal is to continue finding ways to raise funds that are effective and engaging for our Southdale Families.

One of the biggest struggles we face as a PTO is VOLUNTEERS. We have so many ideas, events, and opportunities to make Southdale a great place for our kids—but we simply can’t do it without families willing to give a little of their time.

That’s why we’re asking families to make a 2-HOUR VOLUNTEER PLEDGE for the school year. 🙌

And don’t worry—you’re not signing up for a specific event or date! We’ll reach out throughout the year with opportunities that fit your availability and interests.

🍕 BONUS: The top 3 classes with the most completed parent pledges will win a PTO-sponsored Pizza or Ice Cream Party! 🎉

There are SO many ways to help—from carnival games and concessions, to teacher appreciation, fundraisers, Southdale Social, setup/cleanup, chaperoning, and more.

Despite the dreary weather, we still had about 100 Southdale families join us at the pool party this morning! ☁️🏊‍♀️

It was so fun seeing everyone come together, and the kids were SO excited to see friends they may not have seen all summer! 🥰
