It's that time of year again, when our first-year students move into their new UNI homes and begin the next exciting chapter of their lives. To those students each year we have a small request:

When your mom wants to unpack your clothes and make your bed — let her. When your dad wants to introduce himself to everyone on your floor — let him. When they want to take pictures of every move you make — let them. When they embarrass you or act a little over the top — let them. As you start this new chapter of your life, they are also starting a new chapter of theirs. And believe it or not, this transition is often harder for them than it is for you. So let them treat you like their "baby" one last time. And give them a big hug before they drive away!

Moving in on August 19? Let our Move-In Crew help!

Volunteers will be on hand to help move your belongings into your new campus home. Look for individuals in purple “MOVE IN CREW” t-shirts — you can’t miss them!

Move-In Crew tents will be located at Noehren, Bender, Hagemann, and Rider.

Before arriving on campus, take a few minutes to check these important tasks off the list:

Sign up for UNI Alerts (parents or family members can sign up, too!)
Order a parking permit
Log in to your UNI email account
Apply for an on-campus job
Purchase renter's insurance
Submit your photo for your UNI ID
Coordinate with your roommate on what to bring
Set up a new forwarding address

Getting these items done ahead of time will make move-in go smoother!
