Central Rivers Area Education Agency

Central Rivers Area Education Agency Central Rivers AEA serves over 62,000 students. A nine-member board of directors is elected by local school boards to govern budget decisions.

In addition, over 5,000 educators rely on our services in special education, school technology, media, and instructional/curriculum support. Central Rivers AEA is one of nine Area Education Agencies created in 1974 by the Iowa legislature to ensure equal educational opportunities for all children from birth through age 21. Support to local schools is provided through three service areas: Education

al Services, Information & Technology and Special Education. Area Education Agencies are funded from federal-aid and state-aid payments; legislatively controlled property tax; federal, state and private grants; and tuition for classes. The chief administrator handles the daily operation of the agency's divisions, each of which is headed by a director. In addition to the main office in Cedar Falls, the agency also has main offices in Marshalltown and Clear Lake. Central Rivers AEA Facebook Guidelines

Meet Meg Dredge, a school psychology intern who officially graduated from the University of Northern Iowaโ€™s school psychology internship program! ๐Ÿ‘

For Meg, this year was all about community and finding "her people." Reflecting on the support she received from her UNI cohort, professors, and CRAEA teams, Meg shares:

โ€œSince day one, everyone has been so willing to answer my endless questions and cheer me on. Itโ€™s clear that UNI and CRAEA helped me find 'my peopleโ€™ โ€“ a group of kind, passionate and knowledgeable educators who inspire me to grow every day. Thanks to their guidance, I feel genuinely ready and excited for everything ahead in my career."

Stepping into the role brought some initial imposter syndrome, but Meg was never left to navigate the growing pains alone.

โ€œWhenever I felt unsure, I had colleagues at both CRAEA and UNI ready to offer advice or just a listening ear. Thanks to them, I made it through a year of tricky situations, tough conversations and typical growing pains, but we also shared a lot of laughter, coffee chats and encouragement. With my first year now behind me, I feel genuinely confident in my ability to handle whatever comes next year."

The absolute highlight of her year came after an evaluation, when a mother reached out to share how much progress her son had made, noting that he was finally excited to go to school again. ๐Ÿ™Œ

โ€œConversations like that are exactly why I love this job โ€“ getting to build real relationships with families and watching their kids grow makes me know Iโ€™m right where Iโ€™m supposed to be."

Join us in celebrating Meg โ€“ we are lucky to have her at ! ๐Ÿ‘
