At UNI, Orchesis began as a dance group of eleven members organized during the academic year 1926-1927 and is presently a UNI dance company of students interested in pursuing the choreography, performance, and production of ballet, jazz, modern, and tap styles of dance. Orchesis at UNI is also a student organization that provides social opportunities to its members and is governed by elected stude
nt officers. UNI Orchesis Dance Company is directed by Mandy Masmar. Orchesis is an auditioned based company, that has four levels available that allow you to be in a specific number of dances. These positions include Full, Provisional Plus, Provisional, and Apprentice. Orchesis holds class, led by their artistic director, every Monday and Wednesday where they focus on Ballet and Modern techniques. Orchesis has two main shows, one during the Fall Semester and one during the Spring Semester. They also do many other varying performances throughout the school year. One being, featured in the UNI Menβs Varsity Glee Club Christmas Variety Show.
