The Geology, Energy, and Minerals Science Center, located at the United States Geological Survey headquarters in Reston, Virginia is advertising for multiple student contractor positions for current students pursuing a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in geology or earth sciences and recent graduates with a B.S. in geology or earth sciences.

The duties of the positions are to
Compile and manage descriptive, categorical, and quantitative data on critical mineral resources
Manage geospatial databases in GIS
Conduct independent review of primary literature
Present results and progress updates verbally, graphically, and in writing

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The position is located at the United States Geological Survey headquarters in Reston, Virginia.

Position: Environmental Specialist – Air Quality Bureau

The Department of Natural Resources has one (1) opening for an Environmental Specialist position within the Operating Permits section of the Air Quality Bureau, located in Windsor Heights, IA. The purpose of this position is to process Title V operating permit applications in a timely manner and draft operating permits for issuance or deny applications for air pollution sources in Iowa, in accordance with the DNR Air Quality rules.

The individual in this position will review the completeness of the permit application ensuring that sufficient information is available to evaluate the facility. Additional responsibilities of this position will also include drafting the permit and all supporting documents for review by senior air quality staff and the facility, and then facilitate a process to provide an opportunity for review and comment from the public, surrounding states and EPA.
