Our final Leader Valley Leadership & Legacy Scholar is Aaliyah Weekley. Aaliyah graduated from Waterloo East High School Trojans. This fall, she is starting school at Alabama A&M University where she plans to major in marketing and sports management and minor in journalism. Over the course of her high school career, Aaliyah received the NAACP Courageous Leadership Award, the Cedar Valley Mayor's Top Teen Volunteer Award, and had the opportunity to be a National Youth Correspondent at the Washington Journalism and Media Conference.

Please help us congratulate another one of our Leader Valley Leadership & Scholars, Ava Torres. Ava graduated from Cedar Falls High School and will be attending St. Olaf College in Northfield Minnesota. Throughout high school, Ava was involved in choir, band, speech, theater, cheer, and volunteered at the Cedar Bend Humane Society, Inc.. Ava says, "At times it could be difficult to balance all of these activities while taking multiple AP and honors classes. However, motivation and having fun with all of the opportunities around me left me happy with my high school experience."

Meet our second Leader Valley Leadership & Legacy Scholar, Reagan Cole. Reagan is a graduate of Waterloo East High School Trojans. This fall, she will attend the University of Northern Iowa with plans to receive her BSN in nursing with a specialty in the emergency department. Reagan is a two-time recipient of the Mayor's Top Teen Award, a student ambassador for the Educational Talent Search program, and a council member of the Waterloo Youth City Council.

We are honored to introduce you to our 2024 Leader Valley Leadership & Legacy Scholars! First up is Niyah Ne Cole Arceneaux. Niyah is a graduate of Waterloo East High School Trojans and is starting at the University of Northern Iowa this fall. Niyah plans to transfer to Allen College - UnityPoint Health to complete her degree in pre-allied sonography. Niyah says, "I can not thank the Leadership and Legacy Scholarship Committee enough for giving me this opportunity to continue my education and pursue my upcoming dreams!"

The Leader Valley Leadership & Legacy Scholarship for Minority Students is awarded to Cedar Valley high school graduates who are entering their first year of college. Selected students will receive scholarship money during each year of their higher education and will have access to leadership development opportunities over the summer.
