My name is Sarah but for the past ten years I've been better known as Ms. My family and I have recently moved to the area. After feeling overworked and overstimulated in the city, we made the choice to sell our home downtown Austin and move to Cedar Creek. We couldn't be happier and I'm excited to stay home with my little one, as well as be home to get my son off the school bus each day. It's impo

rtant to me that my family enjoy nature, explore all that's around them and become accustomed to a slower, more thoughtful and peaceful way of living. I know that this is not something that is an option for every family. For the last eight years the opportunity has never once lent itself for this single, hardworking mama of two. It's only by the Grace of God and his perfect timing that I am now able to do so. I feel enthusiastic and excited at this opportunity to be able to help other families in need of childcare and offer my experience, expertise and excellence to your family. The best part is being able to offer it in a comfortable home setting with a lot of space to safely expend energy, make countless childhood memories, and hone problem solving skills. My little schoolhouse is located on five beautiful acres in Bluebonnet Acres. It's an amazing little woodland escape settled right between Austin TX and Bastrop. I'm conveniently located a block from Union Chapel Rd. and close to both Hwy 21 & 71. What a perfect location for the commuting parent- I can't believe it!

We are so abundantly blessed here at Honeysuckle Schoolhouse every single day. I get so busy and/or overstimulated that I often forget to slow down & give THANKS!

So much gratitude for the words of encouragement, the shouts of praise, the quiet referrals and the ones on blast. Thank you for sharing your adoration on the pages. It’s never just a simple shout out…they always carry so much trust, sincerity, loyalty and love. Thank you to our very best assistant director/sister who keeps us organized and in compliance as well as everyone else who sends love and light our way each season.

We are always gifted the best and most treasured toys. Friends learn to love to share the toys they’ve outgrown at home. We feel so lucky to receive such thoughtful donations and gifts of fresh new books, rugs, recyclables, snacks for sharing, toys, beautiful new 3d printed foods for our pretend play, and so much more.

Through these exchanges children are learning to adopt the same spirit of giving they observe and explore ways to show generosity, how to invest in community, what it feels like to reciprocate kindness, and how to practice stewardship and interdependence.

Additionally each day we are thankful that the very best families find their way to HSSH and that we keep fostering relationships with like-minded families, excellent pediatric therapists, other nature-loving kiddos, and all of our incredible supports because there is no limit to what we can achieve when we share a common goal for helping raise up, in the best way possible, our communities most precious and vulnerable members, the children!

No nature find, no bear hunt, no checklist today!

Just curious eyes and time to wonder & wander.

Along the way we noticed summer blooms, animal s**t, cacti, cicada shells, hopping insects, and countless small discoveries.

And just when we thought our adventure was complete, we found what we had been hoping for all along… a frog.

Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones we don’t rush toward.

For three weeks now, our sensory bin has been a favorite part of the day! The children have been busy stacking, sorting, pouring, scooping, pretending, and creating their own little worlds through play.

It’s amazing to see how the same rice bin continues to inspire new ideas and discoveries each week.

One of the benefits of keeping the same filler for an extended period is that the children become familiar and comfortable with the material, allowing their play to grow more complex and purposeful over time.

We’ll continue using rice for the rest of the month before introducing a new sensory bin filler.

Each week, we’ve refreshed the experience with new accessories:
• Week 1: Nesting dolls and scoopers
• Week 2: Dinosaurs
• Week 3: Ice cream shop materials

The materials may change, but the creativity, problem-solving, and imaginative play just keep growing! 🪆🦕🍦✨

🐻 We went on a bear hunt today!

The children set off on an adventure through Hay (Tractor) Hill, Mushroom Mountain, Berry Land, Sunflower City, Messy Marsh, and Daffodil Island. Along the way they searched, discovered, collected treasures, and used their imaginations to transform our outdoor space into a world of exploration.

We found mushrooms, wild berries, sunflowers, and dandelions. We climbed, observed, wondered, and worked together. The journey was full of excitement, curiosity, and storytelling.

Were we brave? Yes.
Were we scared? No.
Did we find a bear? Not this time!

But as every good explorer knows, sometimes the adventure is the real treasure. 🐻🍄🌻✨
