We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of "Energy Beneath Our Feet" at the Frehner Museum of Natural History! This new permanent exhibit, built with support from Fervo Energy, offers an interactive look at geothermal energy and the innovative Enhanced Geothermal Systems right here in southern Utah.

Explore hands-on models, digital touchscreens, and learn about exciting career opportunities in geothermal. The exhibit also features elements from SUU’s Geothermal Professional Development Course, blending online and in-person learning for a comprehensive experience.

Meet Amy Thorpe! Amy is passionate about helping students connect their education with meaningful real-world experiences during their time at SUU.

She works with students to explore career opportunities through job shadowing, internships, and cooperative education experiences while they complete their degrees. From resume building and interview preparation to developing a professional brand, Amy is dedicated to supporting students every step of the way in their career journeys.

Big achievement for our students at the U.S. Department of Energy 2026 Hydropower Collegiate Competition! 🌊⚡

Our Southern Utah University STEM team earned 2nd Place Overall and took home the Design Challenge Award for their innovative hydropower solutions alongside top universities from across the nation.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, creativity, and collaboration our students demonstrated while tackling real-world energy challenges and representing SUU on a national stage.
