Ms. Gage’s 6th grade science students practiced their ecosystem vocabulary words yesterday with a headbands type game. Students took turns speaking, drawing, and acting out the definitions to help their classmates guess the word. There was definitely some engaged learning happening… sometimes the predator/prey actions were intense! Mr. Alford and Mrs. Simpson even joined in on the fun 🐰🦊

Students in Ms. Gibson’s science classes completed a card sort today to review the types of energy. These engaged learners had to recall what they learned from the literacy assignment yesterday, as well as classify real “every day” examples of energy. Way to go, Lakers!

Mrs. Brangers Algebra students read a letter from the “New School Building Committee” and watched a video from the building contractor asking them to become data consultants. Students chose a focus area, created survey questions, and will collect and analyze data using graphs and statistics to make a data-driven recommendation for the new school. We love to see the real world learning!

ATTENTION PARENTS!

We ask that all of our families please complete the ONLINE INFORMATION UPDATE!!

The Online Information Update allows parents to ensure that contact information is correct and that the schools have all of the information needed for students.

Parents will not have access to grades, attendance or other Parent Portal info until they have completed the Online Information Update. More than 60% of our families have completed it (THAT'S GREAT!). As we head toward September, we would really like to see that number get closer to 100%.

Mrs. Argueta’s Language Arts students made an awesome math and science connection to their novel A Long Walk to Water today. After reading and annotating an article on water scarcity, students examined how much drinkable water they could get from the water provided to them — calculating amounts, testing, and questioning whether everyone truly has equal access to clean water.

Students were thinking critically, experimenting, and connecting literature to real‑world issues.
