THANK YOU Parke Co. Rotary Community Garden and Parke Vermillion Master Gardener Association!

Our Weekly delivery from the Parke Co. Rotary Community Garden and the Master Gardner’s of Parke & Vermillion Co., to the Food Pantry on 8/25/26. Not in the picture is a big box of potatoes and two more boxes of huge peppers. Thanks to Brenda, Cheryl, an anonymous donor, and Geri & Wayne for their generous donation and for helping with harvest and delivery. Thanks to all who contributed.

Wow look at all that has been donated! Everyone continues to be so generous, we are so thankful for all of the donations that are given to the Food Pantry! 👀 🤩

From our friends at Vermillion Trails Alliance!

Apparently, 5K wasn’t far enough through the woods…so this year, we added a 10K! 😏🏃‍♀️🌲

Join us for the 2026 Over the River & Through the Woods 5K/10K and Morning Fest! Run it, walk it or bring that friend who keeps saying they need to get more steps.

The adventure begins at Reeder Park, crosses the Wabash River on the iconic Montezuma B&O Walking Bridge and continues onto the beautiful trails beyond.

📅 Saturday, September 26
⏰ Race begins at 9:00 a.m.
📍 Reeder Park in Montezuma
🎟️ 5K or 10K: $25

Strollers and friendly, leashed dogs are welcome and kids age 5 and younger can participate free without a bib or shirt.

Congratulations Wesch Farms!

Congratulations to Wesch Farms for being among Indiana farmers recognized on Tuesday, August 18, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds for their outstanding commitment to conservation and land stewardship during the 2026 River Friendly Farmer Award Ceremony.
Approximately 200 farmers, family members, conservation partners, and guests gathered during the Indiana State Fair to celebrate this year’s River Friendly Farmer Award recipients. The ceremony honored farmers who have implemented proven conservation practices—such as cover crops, no-till farming, field borders, and other innovative approaches—to reduce erosion, improve water quality, and build healthy soils. These efforts help protect Indiana’s rivers, streams, and lakes while contributing to healthier waterways far beyond the state’s borders.

Local farmer Joel Wesch, nominated by the Vermillion County Soil and Water Conservation District, was among this year’s honorees. Wesch Farms is a fourth-generation family farm dedicated to grain production and committed to conservation. The farm utilizes no-till practices, cover crops, and border strips, with portions of the farm also enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program. These practices have improved soil health, reduced runoff, and created diverse wildlife habitat.
The River Friendly Farmer Award is a program of the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD) and Indiana’s 92 Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
The 2026 River Friendly Farmer Award Ceremony is proudly sponsored by:
