Don’t forget to Adopt A Cow for your classroom! This is a great way to learn about dairy cows and track their growth during the year. This is a free program so don’t miss out.

Science teachers: Consider adopting a calf for your classroom this school year! Dairy farmers use a lot of science on a daily basis – from planting their crops to managing the ration (AKA food) that their cows eat. Bring these concepts to life by adopting a calf and watching her grow all year long – plus, the FREE Adopt a Cow program includes several hands-on, science-based labs to go along with your calf updates.

Enroll anytime May 1 – January 31. Enroll by September 1 to get a mailed welcome packet! ➡️ Learn more: discoverdairy.com/adopt

📚 Sprouts is back from summer break and ready to kick off the new school year! 📚

August’s feature book, “It’s Corn Picking Time,” is on its way to our Sprout’s Monthly Book subscribers. Hop in the tractor and ride along with a corn farmer in this rhyming read-aloud full of things that clack, whoosh, and roll! Corn-picking time is a favorite season on author Jill Esbaum’s family farm, and the joy is sure to be shared by young lovers of tractors, trucks, and all manner of machines.

We’re excited to add more books to our resource library. Each book comes with a lesson plan and ready-to-use Google slides. Purchase your copy, access the free lesson plan, or subscribe to Sprouts' Monthly Book on our website: https://www.scfb.org/monthlybook

Summertime is hay season! You’ll see farmers across South Carolina cutting, baling, and putting up hay to feed their animals throughout the winter season. Learn all about hay in this month’s featured read aloud “Hey, Hey, Hey!” read by special guest Cheryl Parr, a proud Newberry County Farm Bureau member.

The rhyming story by Christy Mihaly and beautiful paintings by Joe Cepeda celebrate farming, family, machines and hard work. Happy reading! 🚜🌱☀️
