Ms. Smithโ€™s fourth grade class had an EGG-citing time in science today! ๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ’ฅ Students wrapped up their lesson on energy changes in collisions by putting their learning to the test with an egg drop experiment! They designed ways to protect their eggs, made predictions, and observed how energy transferred during each collision. We had so much fun putting our science skills into action! ๐Ÿงช

Those with this: ๐Ÿ”Ž๐Ÿ“š Library Detectives on the Case! ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ”Ž

Our third and fourth grade students put their library skills to the test this week with a Library Detectives Scavenger Hunt! ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Students searched the library for different books using clues based on fiction genres and alphabetical order. Once they tracked down the correct books, they recorded the title and author to complete each challenge. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ”

This activity gave our students a fun, hands-on way to practice navigating the library independently while reinforcing the skills theyโ€™ve been learning with Mrs. Hill about our genre-fied fiction section and how books are organized on the shelves.

There was lots of searching, teamwork, problem-solving, andโ€”most importantlyโ€”BOOKS! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

We are so proud of our third and fourth grade Library Detectives for cracking the case! ๐Ÿ”Žโœจ

๐Ÿ“š A Special Full-Circle Moment in Our Library! ๐Ÿ’™

Our first grade students recently had a very special visit with our fifth graders! These fifth graders were once first grade students themselves, and while in first grade, they worked together to write and publish their very own book! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

This week, they had the opportunity to revisit their book and share it with our current first graders. They talked about what they remembered from creating it and showed our younger students that they can be authors, too! ๐ŸŒŸ

It was especially meaningful to see these students come together with Mrs. Hill, who taught our fifth graders when they were in first grade and now serves as their school librarian. What a wonderful way to celebrate how much our students grow while inspiring the next generation of young readers and writers! โค๏ธ

Maybe a few years from now, these first graders will be the ones sharing their own stories with younger students! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ“š

Once an author, always an author! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿงฅ Our Kindergarteners are celebrating a โ€œCoat of Many Colorsโ€! ๐ŸŒˆ

After reading Dolly Partonโ€™s beloved story The Coat of Many Colors, our kindergarten students brought the story to life through a fun, hands-on learning activity! ๐Ÿ“šโค๏ธ

Students practiced fine-motor skills, creativity, and following directions as they used crayons, scissors, and glue to design and decorate their very own colorful coats. โœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Through the story, students also learned important lessons about kindness, gratitude, family, and appreciating what makes each person unique. ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

A colorful day filled with reading, art, creativity, and learning! ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿงฅ

Ms. Smithโ€™s fourth grade class wrapped up their reading unit on personal narratives with a fun Show and Tell today! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ Each student brought an item from home and shared a personal narrative about why it is special or meaningful to them. We loved learning more about the stories and memories that make each student unique! ๐Ÿ’™
