OBITUARY

Travis Gene Benton
APRIL 28, 1940 – AUGUST 8, 2026

Travis Benton, age 86, passed away on August 8, 2026. He was born in Commerce, Georgia, to Edna Mae Porter and Garland Lamar Benton.
Travis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family deeply. He will be remembered for his artistic talent and his enjoyment of building things.

Travis had a long and fulfilling career with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he worked as a graphic artist for 40 years before retiring. His love of art remained an important part of his life, both throughout his career and in the many projects he enjoyed pursuing in his spare time.

Travis is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Benton, with whom he shared 66 years of love and cherished memories. He leaves behind his son, Tim Benton, and his wife, Sheri; his daughter, Susan

Tuck, and her husband, Brian; and his son-in-law, Tim Spraggins, husband of his late daughter, Sylvia Spraggins. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Natalie Jaramillo, Megan Mathews, Archer Tuck, Bennett Tuck, Ray Spraggins, Alex Spraggins, Abby Spraggins, and Hannah Spraggins. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Ella Spraggins, Grayson Spraggins, Livi Spraggins, and Joshua Jaramillo.

Travis was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sylvia Spraggins; his brother, Lamar Benton; and his sisters, Lanelle Benton and Nancy Benton.

Travis will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His love for his family, artistic talent, and the many things he made throughout his life will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Eternal Hills Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Travis's life will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Brenda Lee Taylor Obituary
Princeville – Brenda Lee Taylor, 82, of Princeville, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Accolade Healthcare of Peoria. Brenda was born on June 27, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia to Buell Lee and Evelyn (Westbrook) Padgett. Brenda married Larry Taylor on June 27, 1969. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2014.

Surviving, are two sons, Lee D. (Mary) Taylor of Princeville, and Steve (Nichole) Taylor of DeQuincy, LA; eleven grandchildren, Emilee (Mark) Goewey, Allie (Sam) Rumley, and Jake (Avery), Levi (Brielle), Gracie and Jesse Taylor, and Olivia, Josiah, Samantha, Noah, and Eliza Taylor; 3 great grandchildren, Oliver and Tori Goewey, and Georgia Taylor; one brother, Larry Padgett.

Brenda was a homemaker and did babysitting when she was younger as she loved taking care of children. She also loved going to church and enjoyed shopping. She was a member of Princeville Baptist Church and Peoria Rescue Church. Above all else, Brenda loved spending time with her family.

To celebrate Benda’s life, a memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Princeville Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, Georgia. Golnick Family Funeral & Cremation Services in Princeville is assisting with arrangements.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Peoria Rescue Church.
