I don’t think people outside of jiu jitsu understand what that last clap means.

Because sometimes I walk off those mats feeling fu***ng defeated.

Sometimes I’m frustrated. Sometimes I’m exhausted. Sometimes I’m questioning myself and wondering why the hell I keep putting myself through this.

And then we all stand up.

And for a second, none of that matters.

It’s just the people who showed up. The people who pushed me. The people who humbled me, encouraged me, laughed with me, and made me want to come back.

A place where I can be tough and vulnerable at the same time.

Where I can get my ass kicked and still feel proud of myself for showing up.

That last clap isn’t just the end of class.

It’s a reminder that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
