Moral Foundations, Himpathy, and Punishment Following Organizational Sexual Misconduct Allegations 02/14/2023

Well-publicized cases make it seem like the accused are severely punished or immediately fired. However, this is usually not the case. Newly accepted paper by Samantha Dodson, Rachael Goodwin, Jesse Graham, and Kristina Diekmann shows that perpetrators are much less likely than their victims to be punished, in part because some people are morally biased against victims. Many companies are investing in data science but then creating conditions where their data analysts face pressure to compromise their expert standards. Newly accepted paper by Ryan Stice-Lusvardi, Pamela Hinds, and Melissa Valentine examines why and how data analysts lower their standards and then evangelize those lowered standards to gain adoption. When (Non)Differences Make a Difference: The Roles of Demographic Diversity and Ideological Homogeneity in Overcoming Ideologically Biased Decision-Making 11/16/2022

Newly accepted research by Brittany Solomon and Matthew Hall finds that demographic diversity encourages integrative complexity (e.g., thinking about divergent viewpoints) within a group, but only in ideologically homogeneous groups (i.e., groups that share common political values, attitudes, and beliefs). Interestingly, such integrative complexity is more likely to discourage ideological bias in decision making for more conservative (versus liberal) groups. Check out the paper at https://ssrn.com/abstract=4278182.
