RED: See what happens when we don't use variable.
Q: What is the number that when multiplied by 3 and increased by 1 gives 10?
A: 3 * (the number that multiplied by 3 and increased by 1 gives 10) + 1 = 10.
So, (the number that multiplied by 3 and increased by 1 gives 10) * 3 = 10 - 1 = 9.
So, the number that multiplied by 3 and increased by 1 gives 10 = 9/3 = 3.
RED: Isn't it easier just to call the number x and solve for 3x + 1 = 10!
Why do we need variable?
RED: To simplify and give a name to an object, so that we do not have to describe it repeatedly. Imagine how you would talk about your friend if they don't have a name.
