Professor Francis Hult in collaboration with the Center for Global Engagement, Bwtech at UMBC Research & Technology Park , and the World Trade Center Institute hosted a delegation from International Visitor Leadership Program sponsored by the US Department of State. The delegation included 20 English language educators and ministry of education officials from 17 countries who engaged with Prof. Hult about language education policy and curriculum planning. They will continue a three-week tour visiting with experts at universities across the country.

The article appears in CALICO Journal, an international scholarly journal focused on language learning and technology, and is titled "Willingness to Communicate in the Digital Wilds: A Case Study of a Gamer Writing Fanfiction". UMBC hosted the MDTESOL annual conference last weekend. It was a great success! We learned many new ideas to implement in our practice including from presentations by our own students, faculty, and alumni. It was also exciting to meet new friends. A wonderful time was had by all!

Professor Francis Hult will be giving the Hugo J. Mueller Lecture at American University this week. The annual lecture was established in the 1970s in honor of Dr. Hugo J. Mueller, who founded the Department of World Languages and Cultures at AU in 1959.
