Our SFCS community lost a treasure with the passing of Caroline Wenger Korn. She was one of our founding board members, instrumental in the idea of place-based learning, and the establishment of the learning garden and the native plant garden. She liked nothing better than to volunteer on campus, helping students stir fry what they had grown in the garden, identify birds and other wildlife, talk with them about the history of the school and the community, and so much more. She was responsible for students creating the mural on the front of the multipurpose room so many years ago, and its restoration, and the history plaques in gardens. For years, she led an annual reading of our hearts, where students would write down something special about someone in their lives, read it at the front of an assembly, and place the hearts on a tree for all to see. She was endlessly curious about what the students were thinking. and helping them develop and grow. She was a very special person and we will miss her. Thank you, Caroline for helping us define our vision of who we are 💙
Caroline devoted her life to children as a teacher, volunteer Mother of the Garden, children’s reading programs and working to establish a branch library and hiking/biking trails in Catheys Valley. She was a prolific writer of articles for the causes close to her heart.
