The LORD desires to be first in our lives, and He longs to go before us. In fact, He seeks out those individuals who will worship Him, and He delights in their praise. But, even though He loves us and wants to care for us in every way, He will not force Himself into our lives. We must be willing to yield to Him by surrendering our lives completely to His Lordship and giving Him the full measure of our devotion. When we truly set Him before us, He takes His place beside us and offers us all the benefits of His presence.
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” John 4:23 NKJV

The LORD will guide us in every situation, trivial or critical, as long as we look to Him. He will direct our steps according to His plan for our lives. He promises wisdom that is sufficient for every trial. Through His correction and discipline, God will keep us from drifting away from His presence by pulling us back to Himself when we stray. Even when He chastens us, God is good. We ought to praise Him for His discipline in our lives, for with His chastening hand, the LORD preserves us.
“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” Philippians 3:8 -

Have you ever asked this question? Why is it so often true that the LORD instructs us during the night? I know I have wondered why. Well maybe it’s because when we retire to our beds, we usually lie in silence. We have quieted all the other voices in our lives and are able to better distinguish the voice of the LORD. Listen to what David said one night:

“I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.” Psalms 16:7

What a glorious truth is expressed in this passage! At one of the lowest points in David’s life—forced from his home, fleeing from Saul into a foreign, pagan land—he viewed himself as abundantly blessed. David’s gratitude toward the LORD is the most prominent element in this psalm. Fully focused on the goodness of God rather than on the difficulty of his circumstances, David made a deliberate choice to praise the LORD for his blessings rather than to complain about his burdens.We, too, must make a conscious effort to keep our eyes on the LORD.

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: I Corinthians 1:2 NKJV
Paul’s introduction to the church is revealing because it points out just what a church is.The local church is born of God: it is “the church of God, which is at Corinth”; that is, it is God’s church in a particular city or locality. The church is not the church of Corinth or of any other city; it is the church which has been given birth by God; therefore, it belongs to God. The local church and its believers are set apart in Christ and called saints. The word sanctified means to be set apart or separated. God’s church is to be set apart and separated unto Him. The idea is that we as believers are not to be taken out of the world, but we are to be different from the world. Our lifestyle and purpose in life are to be different. We are to live holy lives and to no longer love the world or touch the unclean things of the world. Spend some time just thinking about what this says to each of us.

As I was reading Romans I came across these two statements in chapter 1 verse 17…”from faith to faith; and “The just shall live by faith.” What does this mean? It simply means that we as believers must continue to live by faith from the very first moment of belief to the last moment of our life on this earth, for it is his faith that God takes and counts as righteousness. Very simply, our whole life as a believer is to be a life of faith, from beginning faith to ending faith, from faith to faith. Therefore, the righteousness of God is revealed continuously through all of our life, from the beginning of our faith and continue through our entire life.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17 NKJV

Psalms 46:4 “There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.”
He gives a river of refreshment and joy to the citizens of His city. In stark contrast to the roaring waters of trouble (v. 3) is God’s quiet, gentle river. God’s presence filled the holy place in Jerusalem, and His presence streamed throughout the city like a refreshing river. Even though Jerusalem faced many difficult situations, God’s presence made them glad. Likewise, God’s constant presence in our lives through His indwelling Spirit gives us indescribable joy and peace, even in the midst of life’s fiercest trials. When we drink of the LORD’s presence, we too will be refreshed.

Psalms 46:2-3 “Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah”

He will enable us to conquer fear even in the most catastrophic circumstances. The psalmist took great care to assure us that we need not fear when trouble strikes. Disasters that shake the earth to its core cannot shake us when we take refuge in the LORD. Referring to four types of natural disasters, the psalmist described some of the fiercest catastrophes imaginable: 1.Earthquakes 2.Hurricanes 3.Massive tidal waves or tsunamis 4.Fiery volcanic eruptions from mountains surging or swelling with lava. When serious problems occur in our lives instead of fearing and fretting, we should remember that we do not face the situation alone, but with God’s presence and help. As believers, God’s Spirit lives within us. Therefore, He is always with us. When trouble attacks, we do not have to wait for God to arrive; He is already there.

After Job was battered by a series of devastating tragedies, his friends traveled a great distance to be with him. They sat silently with him for seven days and seven nights, staying by his side during his immeasurable grief. Job finally broke the silence, saying, “The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me” (Job 3:25). With this statement, Job lamented that the worst tragedy he could imagine had come to pass. At some point in our lives, we will face circumstances we feel are more than we can handle. We will know the hollow, helpless feeling of being able to do nothing to change our situation. The Lord has given us Psalm 46 for these times. There are eleven verses in this Psalm, and I want to make a short statement on each verse over the next few days.
Psalm 46:1. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
The Hebrew word for trouble literally means a narrow or tight place where a person is unable to move. It is also used to describe severe pressure. We all face situations beyond our control, but we do not have to face them alone. When trouble strikes, God is present. In fact, He is always there with us, immediately available to help us when trouble arises.

Here are some of the best promises in The Word…

“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Life in this present world is often discouraging, plagued by trials, difficulties, and struggles that never seem to end. But like Jesus, we must set our focus on the joy set before us, the bliss we will know as we live with Him throughout eternity. When we think about the hope we have in Him—all of God’s glorious promises to us—we will be strengthened to endure the struggles of this life. The Apostle Paul stated it best in Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” And then how about 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Now meditate on what you just read! Okay why don’t you read it again. Stop worrying about now and start thinking about
the eternal.

As believers we are constantly fighting trials and temptations in this life. The only way we can conquer the enemies that fight against us is as we follow Jesus Christ. The presence and power of Jesus is needed to conquer the trials and temptations of life. Our energy and strength are limited. We get tired and our bodies weaken when we try to fight in our own strength. We are very limited in strength, in overcoming all the suffering, pain, and problems that affect and surround us. It is Jesus Christ, His presence and power, that is needed to conquer the enemies of this life. He is our Victor, and our victory is found in Him and Him alone. Through Christ, we triumph and gain the victory. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NKJV

God answers prayer! From the beginning of human history, no matter what the distressful circumstance—sorrow, agony, anguish, discouragement, grief, sorrow, hurt, pain—no matter what the problem or trouble, God has always answered the prayers and met the needs of His dear people. And he will meet our needs when we are gripped by sorrow or a broken heart. No matter what trials or temptations we may face, God will answer our prayers and meet our needs.
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
