Well…I’ve let you all down. I promised to post a card a week from September’s class. Life got in the way. So here’s my next card. It’s another Halloween card and it’s the month of Halloween!

I throw away nothing! I’m sure most of you can relate to that. This card is made from a retired Designer Series Paper, a retired die cut and embossing set, and a current stamp set. Actually the same stamp set as I used for my last posted card. It’s the ’Oh My Fright’ set.

I was going through my stash of Designer Series Papers and found this sheet of witches hats. Then I remembered seeing a cat wearing a witches hat in the oh my fright set. Perfect! I used the DSP as the background. And then I used a really old deco and embossing set of frames. I’ve sold a lot of sets in my time, but this one I held onto because it is just so flexible. So I colored the cat image with blends. Used a glossy black card stock for the frame and the witches hat DSP for the background I loved the way the glossy DSP accents the texture in the frame.

Just a tip… Never sell any basic tool you purchase. Generic sets like frames, circles, rectangles & triangles, Designer Series Paper, foils and embossing folders all have a shelf life far beyond the current catalog release. Shop the Last Chance Products page for discounts.

Hello everyone
I'm going to start posting our monthly card projects every Thursday. Yesterday's class went very well. We created 4 cards and we ended right on time at 4pm! I'm attaching our first card today. It's from the OH MY FRIGHT PHOTOPOLYMER STAMP SET. (actually suite)

You can see it here

The card itself was uncomplicated as far as projects go. But there were a lot of pieces. The moon and star swirls were die cut from some holographic cardstock I had in my stash. The cloud and ghosts were from a white glimmer paper. The sentiment frame and additional cloud were from black glimmer paper. And the sentiment is white embossed on Basic Gray cardstock.

Don’t forget that Online Exclusives has a ton of stamps, dies and embellishments that don’t appear in the paper catalog

Today we attended Shakespeare’s Midsummer Nights Dream at the Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs. This was our first time since the remodeled the theatre over the past few years. Our friend Rick gave us tickets last night as he could not attend. It was a fun play…all in the original old English in iambic pentameter. Thanks Rick!

Happy New Year! (13 days late!). I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday. Last Wednesday was my first card class of 2026. Since I no longer have a blog, I decided to start sharing my projects with you on Facebook. My original blog host discontinued service and my other option was WordPress. Their software is so hard to figure out, after 3 months and several books on the subject I just gave up.

The projects for January were focused on Thank You cards since I think January might be a good time to catch up on thanking all the people that shared the Holiday with you in some way. Not many Stampin’ Up! demonstrators focus on retired products. But let’s face it. I have the products already so why not feature them for my classes.

All the cards were created on a 3 1/2”x 5”. Most are created with retired products but the design can be used for any project. The sentiment for this card was on a wood block. So that tells you how old it is. But I love it. The card mat measures 3 3/8” x 4 7/8”. The card front is 3 ¼” x 4 3/4”.

I hope you enjoy it!

Did you know that deporting undocumented immigrants actually also impact our social security?

Yes, many undocumented immigrants contribute to the U.S. Social Security system through payroll taxes, even though they are generally ineligible to collect the benefits themselves. This happens through several methods:
How undocumented immigrants pay Social Security taxes
Using fraudulent or borrowed Social Security numbers (SSNs): Unauthorized workers often secure jobs using an SSN that is either fake or belongs to someone else. In these cases, their employers withhold F**A payroll taxes, just as they would for any other employee.
Using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN): For those who are self-employed or file taxes independently, the IRS issues an ITIN. This allows them to pay federal taxes, including the portion that funds Social Security and Medicare, without a valid SSN.
Using an expired work authorization: Some undocumented immigrants may have obtained a valid SSN through a temporary visa, such as a work permit, but remained in the U.S. after their visa expired. Employers continue to withhold payroll taxes from their paychecks.
The effect on Social Security's finances
Because undocumented immigrants pay into the system but cannot collect benefits, their contributions positively impact the program's financial status.
Net contribution: The Social Security Administration's own actuaries have confirmed that unauthorized workers are net contributors to the system, meaning they pay more in taxes than they collect in benefits.
Substantial revenue: In 2022, undocumented immigrants contributed an estimated $25.7 billion in Social Security payroll taxes.
Benefit fund solvency: This influx of tax revenue, which is never claimed, helps to improve the solvency of the Social Security trust fund.
Eligibility for benefits
An undocumented immigrant is not eligible to receive Social Security benefits unless they legalize their status and received their SSN for work purposes.
If an undocumented person eventually obtains legal work authorization, all their previously paid Social Security taxes can count toward qualifying for benefits. However, a person who never obtains work authorization is ineligible to claim benefits, even after having paid taxes into the system for years.

Deflation hits Stampin’ Up!
Stampin’ Up! just reloaded their Last Chance page with savings up to 75% off. Now’s the time to buy lots of Designer Series Paper, In Color products, retiring stamp sets and die sets.

Here’s a tip. When you see a bundle you like, look to buy the products separately. One bundle is listed at the usual 10% discount of $38.50. But if you buy the dies and stamps separately, the cost is $16.50. That’s more than 50% off.

Shop wisely!
