Another fair bites the dust… but this one bit back with a 3:30 AM wake-up call! 😴

When I tell you these kids are committed and absolutely amazing, I mean it! ❤️

We pulled out at 4:45 AM, hauled to the Caldwell County Fair, and got everything set up and ready for the day—with about a 30-minute break before we jumped right into the FFA Show.

This is the only fair that offers an FFA Show and we are incredibly thankful for the opportunity and for all the time, effort, and work that goes into making it happen. It’s such a great experience for our students, and we truly appreciate everyone who makes it possible!

Ashlyn H. — Grand Intermediate Showman
Mason C. — Reserve Intermediate Showman

After the FFA Show, we grabbed a quick lunch break and kept right on showing! Because apparently sleep is optional during show season. 😂

We started off with the Peewee Division, where:

🏆 Anderson — Grand Champion
🏆 Jedidiah — Reserve Champion

We also brought home several 1st place class wins and had several students earn callbacks for the final drives! 🙌🏼

And to finish out a long day, Caroline was named Grand Champion in the Shorthorn Division! 🏆🐂

It was another LONG day, but watching these kids work hard, support one another, learn, and continue to grow makes every early morning, late night, and mile on the road worth it.

So proud of this Bandys Showteam! 💚💪🏼

Now… somebody please tell these cows that it’s bedtime. 😂

We had a blast tonight at the Regional Leadership Conference (RLC), held at Alexander Central High School, and hosted by the Northwest Region Officer Team. Members who attended learned about some of the factors that make up a leader, and how to grow as a leader. There were workshops hosted by the Regional Officers, teaching us how to connect with others, and perform public speaking. This is also another big social event that allows chapters from all over the region to connect and make friends with folks from other chapters. We’re pleased to announce that our Chapter Reporter, Caroline Toney, also serves as the Regional Reporter. Thank you to the Northwest Region FFA Officer team for hosting and leading the event.

⭐️MEMBERSHIP SPOTLIGHT⭐️ Over this past summer, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) held an inaugural summer camp where participants learned about a Wildlife Conservation Officer’s career. We are proud to announce that Seth Harrell, a Senior who’s active within our Hunter Safety Program, was only one of sixteen students across the state, selected to participate in the summer camp program.

We had a blast September 11 at the FFA Tailgate. Music, games, corn hole, hotdogs, friends, and perfect weather, were an amazing combo. This year, the FFA Tailgate was our first official social event that members and their families could attend. We had an estimated total of 65 attendees to show up! Special thank you to Brain Parker for grilling the hotdogs for the event, they were delicious!

Cabarrus County did not disappoint! Our students represented us extremely well and we had an absolute blast.

We ended the day with
1- Grand champion
2- Reserve champion
3- 1st place
2- 2nd places

Jordyn Simmons was 1st place in the Senior Showmanship division and she won herself a beautiful belt buckle!

We cannot wait to go back next year!

This past Thursday night, we held our annual FFA Open House. The Open House event allows for any member and their families to learn about our organization, heritage, leadership growth opportunities, contests, community service and social events. Attendees get to experience a wide array of mock contests, and this allows them to see what Career Development Event (CDE) and Leadership Development Events (LDE) interests them the most. Some of these mock contests included, Cattle Handling, Tool Id, Dairy Quality, Food Science, Public Speaking, Intro to Horticulture, and Quiz Bowl. We’d to like give a special thank you to our FFA Alumni for providing the meal for the event.

🌾 Harvest for the Hungry Food Drive & Spirit Week!

Join us in supporting our community through the annual Bandys FFA Harvest for the Hungry Food Drive! All food and monetary donations stay right here in our local area to help families in need.

🥫 How to Participate

Bring Non-Perishable Food Items: Drop off your canned and shelf-stable goods in your first period class or bring in a monetary donation!

Participate in Spirit Week:

$1 / day to participate in the theme

$2 / day to participate and wear a hat (or just to wear the hat!)

Make an Online Donation: You can also donate directly online at the Harvest for the Hungry Donation Page linked below (please note that this will not apply to any first period class but will help Bandys as we are competing against other schools in the Hickory OctoberFest Food Drive!)

🎉 Spirit Week Theme Days

Monday: PJ Day (Cozy up in your favorite pajamas!)

Tuesday: Country vs. Country Club (Flannels & boots vs. polos & visors)

Wednesday: Adam Sandler Day (Oversized tees, baggy shorts, and casual gear)

Thursday: Flip It Thursday (Students dress like teachers, and teachers dress like students!)

Friday: Show Your Age Day

Freshmen & Sophomores: Dress as babies or young kids

Juniors & Seniors: Dress as adults or elderly citizens

🏆 Prizes & Competition

Class Prize: Every $1 donated counts as 7 lbs of food toward your class total! The class that collects the most overall will win a breakfast provided by the Ag Department!

Raffle Entry: All participating students will be entered into a drawing for a special surprise!
