Yesterday, our 5th graders took full advantage of the beautiful weather to practice their math skills! Mrs. Sipes' classes are working on multiplying multidigit numbers using the standard algorithm. Their “workspace” may have been a little unconventional, but the learning was anything but!

There’s just something about fresh air, sunshine, and sidewalk chalk that makes math a little more fun! 💙 🚀

October is the perfect time to celebrate the people who lead, encourage, support, and inspire our school community every single day!

We are so grateful for our amazing principal, Dr. Settlemyre, leads us with patience and kindness each day! She helps make Catawba Elementary a place where students and staff can learn, grow, and feel supported. From celebrating student successes to cheering on our teachers, she brings dedication, positivity, and heart to everything she does.

Thank you for always being there for our Rockets, for believing in our students, and for helping our school community reach for the stars! 🌟

During National Principals’ Month, we’re celebrating Bethany Settlemyre, principal of Catawba Elementary School (pictured left)! The matching shirts and shared smiles in this photo reflect what she loves most about Catawba: a school community where people come together, support one another, and belong.

What IGNITES Dr. Settlemyre? Helping teachers and staff recognize that their work changes the course of a child’s life, building meaningful connections, and creating a school where every student and staff member can say, “I am an important part of this family.”

She spreads that spark by helping people feel known and valued—and reminding them that their impact reaches far beyond test scores.

Celebrating Our September Character Trait: RESPECT! ⭐

Throughout the month of September, our Rockets have been practicing what it means to show RESPECT - to ourselves, to others, and to our school community. 🚀 💙

Yesterday, we recognized one student from each class who has demonstrated outstanding respect through their words, actions, and choices. These students are wonderful examples of how small acts of kindness, listening, cooperation, and consideration can make a BIG difference! 🌟

Celebrating our September Bus Riders of the Month! ⭐ 🚌

We are so proud to recognize our **Bus Riders of the Month! These students are showing what it means to be respectful, responsible, and safe while riding the bus. They are great examples of how kindness and good choices can make the ride to and from school a positive experience for everyone!

Congratulations to all of our amazing bus riders, and a special thank you to our wonderful bus drivers for helping our students get to school safely each day! 🚌❤️

"Mr. Elliott & Ms. Schronce have done a wonderful job with the lower grade EC students. They both have big hearts for their students and so much patience. They have been able to get them out to recess, to lunch, and specials with their peers. We are so lucky to have them at Catawba and it is a joy to see the students being successful!"
