Putting Fats, Oils, and Grease, aka F.O.G., down the drain can cause big problems! Dispose of F.O.G. in the green organics cart. F.O.G. collects and hardens inside pipes and can form a solid plug that can lead to sewer problems. Thanks for putting F.O.G. in its place and keeping Castro Valley's wastewater moving!

If you have a worn or unserviceable American flag, you can dispose of it at the newly installed flag drop box located at CVSan’s new headquarters at 21195 Center Street. Thanks to Scout Pack 722 for their service and for maintaining the flag drop box. Other flag disposal locations in Castro Valley include a flag drop box at the Castro Valley Village and one inside Pete’s Hardware.

Next week, Alameda County Industries (ACI) will be conducting route reviews. As part of this effort, they will inspect a sample of carts/bins to check for contamination, such as materials being placed in the incorrect cart/bin, and overflowing containers.

Starting September 21st, you may notice ACI in your neighborhood wearing high-visibility safety vests.
