A junior at Vermont State University Castleton Campus and GEAR UP alum, Amelia Munger is looking forward to gaining more clinical experience in a hospital setting as she works toward becoming a registered nurse. She plans to specialize in complex skin wounds, ostomy, and continence care at her local hospital.

VSAC outreach counselor Tia Stillman helped Amelia identify her next steps starting in middle school. “I’ve had GEAR UP by my side since junior high, helping me get to where I am now,” Amelia says. “GEAR UP helped me start thinking about my goals early, and every time we met, GEAR UP helped build my confidence to follow through. GEAR UP helped me establish a path to get there; without GEAR UP, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
