One of our favorite days of the year is Kindergarten Readiness Screening. Today, we had the opportunity to meet most of the students who will be joining our "nest" this fall and will graduate the class of 2039! It is exciting to see the curiosity and confidence our future Eagles bring.

Thank you to our families for trusting ACS with your child's education. We look forward to partnering with you and watching these young learners grow for years to come. Welcome to Academy Charter School, future Eagles!

We are proud of the students you have become and the memories you helped create at ACS. From classrooms and concerts to athletics, field trips, clubs, and friendships, you have left your mark on our school.

As you head to high school, we wish you success, confidence, and new adventures ahead. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. 🦅

Congratulations to Kelli Weiss and Jenny Featherston, our 2026 Excellence in Education Award recipients!

Ms. Liz is retiring, and we want to flood her with retirement cards filled with kind words, best wishes, and all the love that comes with a lifetime of memories. 💐

We’re inviting every family - past and present - to write a card to our retirees and either mail it to the school or drop it off in the front office. Please help us spread the word and share this with as many ACS families as possible! Let’s shower Ms. Liz with the joy and gratitude she's earned. 💐

After 28 years of serving the students, staff, and families of Academy Charter School, Elizabeth Smith will retire from her role as our Health Attendant at the end of this school year. For more than two decades, Liz has been on the front lines of the school. Parents have trusted her, students have relied on her, and staff have benefited from her steady guidance and practical advice year after year. Her knowledge, calm presence, and genuine care for our students have made a lasting mark on this school.

Our Glow Run was a success on Friday! This is one of our biggest efforts of the year, supporting a new playground, and we’re aiming to raise $75,000. There are many ways to participate, and plenty of incentives along the way, so be sure to review the Glow Run emails from PTO for all the details, deadlines, and prize information. And if we reach our GLOW RUN goal, we’ll end the school year a day early: our last day will be May 20 instead of May 21.

*Donations accepted through May 7

Our staff enjoyed a great appreciation event this week with beautiful flowers, time together, and a well-earned moment to feel valued.
Thank you to our PTO for planning such a thoughtful activity and making it special from start to finish. And thank you to our parents for supporting the PTO in a way that allows them to turn around and treat our staff like royalty. We’re grateful for this community. ACS PTO

Our middle school clubs give 7th and 8th-graders a place to belong and connect. From eSports and chess to NASA SEEDS, Spanish, and Multicultural Club, and GeoGussr, students explore new interests while spending time with friends. These years are about figuring out who they are, and being part of a group helps build confidence and connection. Our teachers sponsor clubs because they enjoy working with students beyond the classroom and want to share what they love. It’s a chance for kids to try something new, be with their peers, and enjoy school in a different way.

Our 3rd graders brought Charlotte’s Web to life in the best way, by hatching their own chicks right in the classroom.

As they read about Wilbur and life on the farm, students watched the full process unfold, from eggs to hatchlings. There’s nothing like seeing it firsthand to make a story stick. Along the way, they learned patience, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for the care of living things. A few fluffy reminders that the best learning doesn’t stay on the page.

A special thank you to the Slattery Family for making this possible!
