🌿✨ ALL of the Assurance Feed line uses NATURAL Vitamin E! ✨🌿

Because at Assurance Feed, we believe in using ONLY the BEST ingredients available. 💚🐴

⭐ Choose Natural Vitamin E for Your Horse ⭐

Horses require vitamin E for countless biological functions, but one of its most important roles is as a powerful antioxidant that helps support:
💪 Healthy muscles
🧠 Healthy nerve function
🛡️ Protection against oxidative stress

🌱 Natural Sources of Vitamin E
✅ Fresh pasture
✅ High-quality hay
✅ Premium fortified feeds like Assurance Feed

🌟 Not All Vitamin E Is Created Equal

Natural vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopherol) has been shown to be:
✔️ More bioavailable
✔️ Better absorbed
✔️ More effective at helping reduce muscle cell damage than synthetic forms.*

Synthetic vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol) contains several isomers, many of which are not readily absorbed by the horse.

💧 Research has also shown that water-dispersible natural vitamin E can increase blood vitamin E levels in as little as one week, while some powdered forms may take up to seven weeks to reach similar levels.**

🌾 Why It Matters

Although horses can obtain vitamin E from pasture and hay, the vitamin E content begins to decline as soon as hay is harvested.

📉 Hay can lose up to 50% of its vitamin E after just one month of storage!

That’s why horses on stored hay, limited pasture, or low-grain diets may benefit from additional natural vitamin E.

🐎 Horses That May Benefit Most

✅ Horses in moderate to heavy work
✅ Horses with muscle soreness or injuries
✅ Horses with neurological concerns
✅ Horses eating primarily hay
✅ Horses with limited pasture access

💚 At Assurance Feed, natural vitamin E isn’t an upgrade… it’s our standard.

Because when it comes to your horse’s health, there is NO substitute for natural-source Vitamin E. 🌿🐴

🔥 Wildfire Smoke & Horse Health 🐴💨

Poor air quality can be harmful not only to us but our horses too. Smoke from wildfires can irritate a horse's respiratory system and cause fatigue, coughing, difficulty breathing, etc.

You can monitor local air quality at www.airnow.gov. During periods of poor air quality, you can protect your horse's health by:

🐎 Limiting or avoiding exercise.
💧 Providing free access to fresh water.
💦 Controlling dust such as watering dry lots and soaking or feeding dust-free hay.
🕰 Allowing time for recovery: airway damage from wildfire smoke takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal after air quality returns to normal.
☎️ Consult your vet if you notice signs of smoke irritation.

Did you know that research has found that giving your horse at least 2 rest days a week could support your horse’s gastric health?

Research by Sykes et al (2018) has suggested that the number of exercise days can be a risk factor for performance horses prone to glandular ulcers, and so providing at least 2 days of rest per week is a great way to support their overall digestive health.

Check out the full article here from Kentucky Equine Research:

In lieu of the “scope-treat-scope-treat” cycle in horses with refractory glandular disease, a stepwise holistic approach might be effective.

☀️🐴 Heat Stress in Horses: Nutrition Matters More Than You Think 🐴☀️

When temperatures rise, a horse’s body works harder to regulate heat. Sweating is the horse’s primary cooling mechanism — but with sweat comes the loss of water and essential electrolytes that are critical for normal muscle, nerve, and body function.

Know the warning signs of heat stress:

🔥 Excessive sweating — or lack of sweating
💨 Increased respiratory rate
❤️ Elevated heart rate or slow recovery after exercise
😴 Fatigue, weakness, or decreased performance
🥴 Dull attitude or changes in behavior
🌡️ Increased body temperature
💧 Signs of dehydration such as tacky gums or reduced skin elasticity

Supporting your horse starts before the heat becomes a challenge:

💦 Hydration is the foundation. Adequate water intake supports digestion, circulation, and the body’s natural cooling process.

🧂 Electrolyte balance is essential. Sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, and magnesium lost through sweat must be replaced to support hydration, muscle function, and recovery.

🌱 Support the hindgut. Heat, travel, competition, and changes in routine can all create stress. A healthy digestive system helps maintain nutrient absorption and overall well-being.

⚖️ Don’t forget the basics. Horses may reduce intake during extreme temperatures, but their requirements for quality protein, vitamins, and minerals remain important for maintaining health and performance.

Great horses aren’t built on one supplement or one ingredient — they’re supported by a balanced nutrition program every day.

Assurance Feed is committed to the science of equine nutrition, helping provide the foundation horses need to perform and thrive through every season. 🐴💜

Stay ahead of the heat — because prevention starts before the first sign of stress. ☀️
