Summer is a time for fun, relaxation, and making memories—but it's also a great opportunity to keep reading skills strong!
Just 15–20 minutes of reading a day can help students maintain the progress they've worked so hard to achieve during the school year.
A few ways to make reading fun this summer:
📚 Let your child choose books that interest them
🎧 Try audiobooks during car rides or quiet time
🏖️ Bring books along to the pool, park, or vacation
👨👩👧 Read together and talk about the story
⭐ Celebrate effort, not just accuracy
For dyslexic learners, consistency is key. A little practice throughout the summer can make a big difference when school starts again.
Happy reading! 📖✨

To all of our Away With Words students—CONGRATULATIONS on making it through another school year! 🎉📚
We know school can be a lot. The long days, the extra effort, the tutoring sessions, the homework, the frustration, and the perseverance—it all takes so much energy.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work, growth, and determination we’ve seen from each of you this year. Whether the wins felt big or small, every step forward matters.
Keep believing in yourselves the way we believe in you. 🤍
Wishing all our students and families a fun, restful, and well-deserved summer!

Finals week can feel overwhelming—especially for dyslexic students. 📚✨
Here are a few reminders and tips to help make the week a little easier:
• Break studying into short chunks instead of long sessions
• Read notes out loud or use text-to-speech tools
• Prioritize sleep—your brain needs rest to process information
• Use accommodations if you have them (extra time, quiet testing spaces, audiobooks, etc.)
• Focus on progress, not perfection
Most importantly: struggling with reading does NOT mean you aren’t smart. Dyslexic students often work twice as hard, and that effort matters.
You’ve got this. 🤍

We’re excited to share that our founder, Angela Williams, recently joined a podcast while attending the ALTA National Conference in New Orleans 🎙️
The episode focuses on dyslexia, literacy support, and helping students build confidence through evidence-based instruction and encouragement.
We love opportunities like this to connect with families, educators, and the dyslexia community beyond Colorado, and we’re especially excited to help share this conversation with listeners in Mississippi and across the South.

To the moms cheering from the sidelines, helping with homework after long days, driving to tutoring sessions, advocating at school meetings, and reminding their kids every day that they are capable—we see you. 🤍
Supporting a child with dyslexia or learning differences takes patience, persistence, and so much love. The work you do behind the scenes matters more than you know.
Thank you for showing up again and again for your children and helping them grow in confidence.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Away With Words 🌷

The GOAT does it again 🐐👏
We’re so proud of our founder, Angela Williams, for speaking at Reading in the City 2026 hosted by the International Dyslexia Assoc. - Rocky Mountain Branch
This incredible event brings together families and professionals from across the dyslexia community to focus on the science of reading, brain research, practical application strategies, and research-backed support for students.

We wrapped up our final Dyslexia Mentorship Night on April 24th, and we can’t help but reflect on what a special series these past three sessions have been.
Our hearts are full. 🤍
Watching students connect, grow in confidence, and support one another has been incredibly meaningful. There’s something powerful about being in a space where kids feel understood—and reminded they’re not alone in how they learn.
We’re so grateful to the families who joined us and to the students who showed up with openness, courage, and curiosity each week.
This is why we do what we do. ✨

Not sure? We can help. 💛
You don’t have to figure it out alone. Early support can make all the difference, and the right approach helps kids build confidence, not just skills.
