Back at it with BLS training!

Strong chest compressions, proper rescue breaths, and real hands-on practice—this is where confidence is built for when it actually matters.

Bonus for today: we even got a few fly fishing tips from a captain who stopped by 🎣—you never know what you’ll learn around here!

But saving lives is always the main focus 🖤

Casper classes available—message me to get scheduled.

No school for Presidents’ Day… so we put the day to good use in babysitting training.

CPR practice, emergency response, and hands-on time with kid-friendly first aid kits.

Some of these kids are already babysitting. Some will be this summer.

All of them are walking away more confident, capable, and prepared.

And that matters.

Tiny limbs require careful hands!

Today we practiced proper infant leg wrapping — securing the wound while protecting circulation.

Infant wound care isn’t about wrapping tight — it’s about protecting circulation and stabilizing the injury.

Too tight can restrict circulation.
Too loose won’t protect the injury.

• Pad first
• Wrap evenly
• Snug, not tight
• Reassess circulation

Always check capillary refill after securing a wrap.

Practice makes prepared!

Kids are curious, wild, and full of energy — and that’s what makes them amazing.
But accidents can happen anywhere, at any time, which is why knowing the latest CPR and First Aid techniques is so important.

Proper technique matters — depth saves lives ❤️‍🩹

Updated Infant CPR Guidelines (Under 1 Year Old | 2025 ARC):

Preferred Method:
* Two-thumb encircling hands technique — provides the most consistent depth, recoil, and blood flow when the chest can be fully encircled.

Suggested Alternate Method (2025 Update):
* One-hand technique — using the heel of one hand in the center of the chest (just below the ni**le line) when the chest cannot be encircled or when other methods do not achieve adequate depth.

Why the change:
* Updated guidance now emphasizes techniques that reliably reach proper compression depth, as two-finger compressions often fail to reach the recommended depth for many adult rescuers.

Depth & Rate:
* 100–120 compressions per minute
* About 1½ inches deep (approximately one-third the depth of the chest)

Compression to Breath Ratio:
* 30 compressions to 2 breaths (single rescuer)

Key Updates & Reminders:

• Focus on compression depth first — shallow compressions don’t circulate enough blood

• Infant choking: 5 back slaps + 5 chest thrusts, repeated until the airway is clear or CPR is needed

• Child & adult CPR: Proper depth, correct rate, and minimal interruptions

🫀 Immediate CPR can double or triple a baby’s chance of survival, and starting quickly with correct technique is just as critical for children.

We’re hosting hands-on trainings to teach these life-saving skills in a supportive, confidence-building environment. Whether you are a parent, caregiver, teacher or just someone who wants to be prepared you’ll leave ready to act when it matters most.

📅 Next training: February 27th — 9:30 AM

Protect yourself first! Always use gloves and barriers when giving first aid – it’s all about safety for YOU and the patient.

Blood-borne pathogens can be invisible but dangerous! Proper PPE saves lives.

Gloves on, mask ready, barriers in place. Safety isn’t optional – it’s essential.

BBP Quick Tips:

• Always use PPE (gloves, masks, eye protection).
• Wash hands immediately after care.
• Treat all blood and body fluids as if they are infectious.

A simple piece of cloth, endless possibilities – arm sling, head wrap, or even a tourniquet backup. Do you know this first aid essential?

One bandage, multiple lifesaving uses! Triangle bandages are a first aid hero.

Fun Fact: Triangle bandages are one of the most versatile items in a first aid kit. They can be used for:
• Arm slings
• Head/eye bandages
• Securing splints
• Pressure dressings
• Tourniquet backup

🩹 Big thanks for your participation and energy—such a great group to train! 🩸

She’s crushing this skill! 👏 BLS isn’t just about compressions—ventilations matter too!

Bag-mask ventilation isn’t just a skill—it’s a lifesaving technique! 🫁 This device helps deliver oxygen to someone who isn’t breathing or isn’t breathing effectively. In BLS, knowing how to create a proper seal and deliver breaths is just as important as high-quality chest compressions!
